By lord the 360 S puts out a lot of heat.

In a fit of booze fueled lunacy I decided to replace my aging 360 Elite with a 360 S and boy I think I've found a way to not only entertain myself but warm my house at the same time.

The fan on the top right hand side puts out a massive amount of heat. I found this out because I had my controller on the right hand side of the console, a habit from the previous one. I went to pick it up and while it wasn't at burning temp, it was a 'what
the hell is going on' moment.

If this is how much heat a revised model of the 360 makes, then it was no wonder the RRoD was such a problem with the original design.

Xbox Slim: More heat than usual?

The 360 S isn't "drawing more heat" off anything. The exhaust port is about half an inch from the top of the heatsink. Ths is versus several inches on the original console. The exhaust temperature is 20-35F greater on the 360 S than on the original 360.

Think of it this way - you have a hairdryer. You put your hand about half an inch away from the end where the hot air comes out. It's very hot. You put your hand three inches away. It isn't as hot. The longer the distance the hot air has to travel, the more
heat it disappates along the way.

And the new one is still the 360 S. Go check the

It's an electronic device it will put out a lot of heat. What is the point of your post? Unless it's overheating, you don't even have anything to complain about.

 

They do put out the heat. Also along the R side is where the HDD is and with it being enclosed. It gets hotter than I would have expected it would.

 

Mine serves as a movie/tv machine, the heat out of the top is amazing. However it has never stopped working, better out then in right?

 

Huh. Guess I'll have to start paying attention to mine, it seems. Not that I'm particularly concerned, but I am curious.

 

Seriously, i have turned on my console just to warm up the room.

It works better than the radiator in that room.
