Buzzing noise from the rear of Xbox One X

I noticed this annoying buzzing noise from the rear of the console (i think from the rear right) that could be heard from at least 2 ft away. At first i thought it was a power adapter of one of the devices but upon isolation and inspection, it turned out
to be the Xbox.

Even when turned off (but plugged in) the noise dies down but then it changes to something like a ticking noise (like a fan swiping something).

The console is connected to a direct wall outlet. The other electronics on the circuit are all low load ones, 55" led, 60w soundbar, Apple tv 3rd gen, orbi, Kinect powerb supply, a dc motor fan, led lighting, and minor stuff.

Though, that's what the electrician is coming to check today.

The tripping, incidentally, started after i started playing NMS, and during our peak summer of 85f (outside), 80F inside temps.

The consensus is that the noise is a coil whine which occurs when a lower level of power is being drawn from the console

With the probability that it’s a minor hardware issue and if you haven’t already try hard cycling your xbox. Maybe clean the console out for maintanence (i do this every month or so) If all else fails it sounds like it could be hard drive problem, in which
case i would go about hard resetting your console.

These are the steps that i’ve taken in the past to clear up any unwanted noises from my xbox and it’s not failed thus far.

Check the ventilation around your console.

It may be just the cooling fans doing it's job.

All Xbox One consoles (Xbox One X, Xbox One S, original Xbox One) are designed to ventilate air to keep them at an optimal temperature during use. Your console may feel hot around the vents, but this is normal. Hot air is being ventilated from the
console to cool the interior. Keeping the console free from obstructions and clutter will allow it to ventilate properly. See

If it starts to randomly shut down you may have a more serious issue.

If your console consistently shuts down automatically due to ventilation problems, even after the console is free from clutter and no vents are obstructed, it will need service.

You can
request a repair from Device Support. Console registration is required to service your console.
