Buying Xbox 360 Games without owning the console

I own a Xbox One but never owned a 360.

With the upcoming backwards compatibilty I would like to "save" the monthly 360 Games with Gold games.

But when I try to buy Thief I get an error-message stating: "Is this your first purchase?" and so on...

What is this problem? Am I not able to buy 360 Games without linking my profile to a 360 console?

Hi everyone,

I want to buy some virtual currency for an XBOX One game wich I plan to play. That offer is on sale, but I don't own a console with said game yet. Can I still make that purchase? It would be linked to my XBOX account and there should not be any problems
when i get the game and the console itself afterwards, right?

What is the full error message?

 

The complete message is:

"Sorry, Is this your first purchase? To ensure it is compatible, please sign in to Xbox Live using your console and try again."

 

Ah ok. Never heard of that message before.

Maybe it's because as you've never signed in on a 360 then they may be doing it to prevent you ordering a game for the wrong console. There is also the fact it wont know what console to send the download to because it usually adds them to the 360 download
queue.

Once backwards compatibility is officially released they will probably change this.

 

Keep in mind the publisher still has to write the patch so no garentee any games for gold will work with the xbox one

Going by what was said on E3 the publishers only have to authorise the game going to BC. MS do all the work
