Buying game on Live but using a friends disc?

The above was explained quite well, but I'll add a little bit extra:

As already mentioned, when you buy a disc game, you still need to keep the disc inserted to play. However, there are some exceptions to this. For example, if you have the disc version, but your friend has the digital version - and your friend is using their
account on your console - they won't need to insert the game disc, because they own the digital rights.

Also, if for example your friend installs their game disc on your console, and then you decide you want that game too and go the digital route, all you need to do is pay for it via Xbox LIVE. The installed game will unlock and you can play that game on your
account without the disc. This could be very useful if your Internet connection is slow as you won't need to download the game from Xbox Live if the game is already installed from the disc.

The point of buying on disc is that you can lend it to a friend, you can sell it away, etc.. You can't do this on a digital game, at least for now.



Going digital might be smart if you don't live and breath of selling used games and buying used games, as Family Share will likely return one day and I don't see how it would work on disc based games, but probably would for all digitally bought games.

i did not resolve the problem but my friend told me if you want to play the game you can only use a disc dont bother buying any xbox original game on xbox live marketplace it will not let you play it at all enless you have a disc the marketplace is just
a joke

find a friend who bought disc... install using disc.. give disc back... buy the digital version....win

That's why buying the hard copy retail disc version of the game is an advantage? It saves you downloading a large file off Xbox Live. With 360 games on disc, you can go to a friends place and play it on another console with no problems. This would be kinda
harsh if this restriction also applied to hard disc copies as such a policy does not apply to game disc sharing on the 360.
