Buying a used Xbox 1 that is banned

my friend is trying to sell me his Xbox one that he says was banned, why I don't know. If I were to buy it could I get it unbanned? Thanks!

Buying a pre-owned xbox - xbox live account?

I highly suggest not buying a used Xbox 360. Because if you do there is a chance that the console is suspended or banned, The Xbox Team cannot undo it.

I was thinking of buying a used console but am worried of buying one that may be banned from live is this possible due to my IP address being different?

No. If it's a permanent console ban it would remain banned. Console bans are not overturned.

It is possible that the console has a ban associated with it. #1 rule do not buy a used xbox unless it's a refurb from someone like tiger direct.

Microsoft doesn't discuss Console Bans. There is no one on these forums to help you unfortunately.

Your 3 main options are:

1) Use the banned console off line (no LIVE)

2) Buy a new one, and transfer everything over (arcade games, save games, profiles, etc.) ...

3) Don't use XBOX products.

As to MS losing money, think of it this way...

As far as MS is concerned, someone on that console did something so egregiously bad against the ToU and/or the CoC that they don't WANT that console on their service any more. They feel that the only way that they would even consider you as a customer any
more to get back on LIVE is to buy another console.

In other words, they no longer trust that console and the people using that console on LIVE. The only way to "buy back in" to LIVE is to buy another console. If you do buy another console, they will then trust you again..

Think of it this way,MS bans 1 million xboxs around the globe. Now it forces the community that was infected by the ban to buy a new one and wont disclose any information or even address the issue.MS bans 1 million xbox's, now Microsoft sells 1 million xbox's
at $300+ a pop, since players want to continue their gaming. Make $300 million dollars in one week? sounds like a huge intake of money at the communities expense. BBB and FTC needs to be contacted by everyone willing to help with legitimate claims.
