Buying a gift card for a Marine overseas

I completely spaced out on getting my nephew a Christmas gift. Which kinda sucks since he's in Okinawa with the Marines.

So my question: He's got an XBox One. I assume it's still set to USA region. Would any gift card code I buy in USA be redeemable for him, even though he's in Japan?

Games are not region specific and can be played and redeemed anywhere. Currency on the other hand is not. It can only be used and redeemed in the same region. So that would be dependent on how his account is setup. Learn

Is there a way people can gift from overseas or no becuase my friend gifted me a game overseas and i feel bad becuase he spent 60$ on the game to give it to me and it wont redeem just because he lives in a austria

Hi RickArnold1,

You cannot use a gift card to buy another gift card. Such as Xbox. As it don't work that way. You have to either have physical money (like a credit card) to buy things on the Xbox store or buy an Xbox gift card in the stores.

Again, you cannot do it with a gift card
