Buying a game with Microsoft account balance

You redeemed the code to Microsoft Account or You used your Microsoft Account balance to buy the game?

Unfortunately not. I've had this same problem myself. Your account balance can only be used to buy Apps, Games, Music as well as Digital DLC for Games and Apps.

You can't buy a gift card with funds in your Microsoft account balance. That would be essentially buying a gift card with a gift card. You would need to buy a game or other content in the store and use your account balance as the payment method.

I was trying to buy an Xbox Series X Console, not a game nor subscription.

The entire purchase was around $ 543 and I had more than enough Microsoft Account Balance and I specifically chose Microsoft Account Balance as they payment method.

Thanks for your response! Unfortunately there is no way to refund Microsoft Account balances back to currency. The balance on your account can be used to purchase other software and games or even rent/buy movies on the Microsoft store.
