Buying a game through Xbox Game Pass for PC

I've been looking on various websites including microsoft's own FAQ's without any success and my problem is this: I really want Mircosoft Flight Simulator 2020 and I would very much like to buy it at the reduced price through Xbox Game Pass for PC, to which
I haven't subscribed to..... yet. I've read on various websites including microsoft's own that If I buy said game and cancel the subscription before the trial ends, I still have the game "install", but won't be able to play it until I re-subscribe. I do feel
conned into parting with 80+ bucks just to have MS take it away when they remove the game from the Xbox Game Pass store. I am thinking it may be the best option to save for for the digital version knowing that I can keep forever. I know it's a great idea,
but If games have to be bought, to me sounds like a big no no and that's stopping me subscribing. Period.

If you actually pay for a game, it's yours to keep with or without Game Pass. It's only when you don't purchase a game that you have to keep the Game Pass subscription to keep playing it.

In order to buy a game on Xbox and also download it and play on the PC without buying it again, the game has to be Play Anywhere. https://www.xbox.com/en-US/games/xbox-play-anywhere If it's not part of that, you would need to purchase the PC version of the game in order to play it on the PC or get Game Pass for PC if it's available through there.

If i understand the problem, you want to buy them both an Xbox Game Pass subscription to play on their respective PC's ? Buy an Xbox Game Pass PC sub for each or a Ultimate Game Pass. Log their account on Xbox beta app on PC and buy them the correct sub.
Or use xbox.com with their account correctly sign in and buy them Xbox Game Pass for PC.

You don't have to have Game Pass to buy a game. That game isn't included with Game Pass currently anyway and is not available for purchase for PC through Microsoft.
