Buying a game from another region and made up purchase address

Hello Xbox team

I originally from Jordan but I am working at Saudi Arabia temporarily.

That’s my first time using Xbox and I set up my 10 years Microsoft account to use it at my first new Xbox series x.

I set my Xbox location at United States since Jordan is not supported region and bought a game using Gift Card 50$. At the purchase with this gift card they asked me for address and I provided a fake address at US.

Then I was scared when I knew that this is illegal to provide wrong information about your “physical location” and I switch my Xbox location to Saudi Arabia where I work temporarily.

The problem is that the game I bought is not available at Saudi store and I am afraid that this could cause my account to get permanently banned.

I want to buy games in future on this same account I trust.

What are the consequences now ? Will my account get suspended or permanently banned ? and if there is anyway they just take the game from my account without any refund to avoid the ban since it will be much better ?

Most likely you won't be banned unless you continue to try to do the same thing in the future, but since you are in an area where the game is not available, if you uninstall the game or switch consoles, you most likely will not be able to redownload it since it was purchased outside of your region.

No I will never do it again. That my first time I am using xbox and I am planning to be legal to the very end.

I already bought the game on CD from a known store in Saudi Arabia.

But when I download the game from the CD and remove it the digital license is still working and you can play the game without CD.

That’s why I am afraid that I can get banned.

I already uninstalled the game when I read about Xbox location rules and provided info.

The option to change regions is made available in the case a user moves from one country to another. It's not as a way to bypass region restrictions.

Gift cards can be used to purchase games. Gift cards will only work for the region it is created for, so if you buy a US card, you have to also have a US account. However, again, if your region does not match your physical location, it can cause issues with purchases.

once a region is set you cannot change the region of your account

however you can create another account in another region and purchase the ms points with prepaid cards in the correct region you will have to buy from an etailer the correct region

it is always best to buy ms points from your actual region

ms points are region locked

if the content is region locked usually games that are baned or restricted in australia and germany are and would prevent you from buying it regardless

If you bought it from another. Country via Amazon or online you need to return it to the region of purchase and have a return address in that region

This is why you don't buy out of region very few manufacturers do international warranty and it wouldnt be most electronics it have to be portable

Unlocked phones but you have to wait for parts

It wouldn't matter if you had a repair center or not

You have to return it to the country it was purchased in

Imported products don't count you have to address it with the store
