Buy a digital copy with physical copy installed

Hi. I have a copy of BF4 which I installed from disk onto my INTERNAL hard drive.

Recently I purchased the digital copy of the game. I had heard that since I already had the game that it would just download the licences and not the entire game.

What happened was it downloaded the entire game to my EXTERNAL hard drive (which was added after the initial BF4 install).

When going to manage the game I see two 50G+ copies of the game.

The question. Can I delete the internal hard drive copy of the game with causing any issues?

Has anyone else experienced this?

Why was the physical install copy not detected?

Actually toasted you stated with the xbox one pre drm reversal you would have been able to buy a physical copy of the disk then turn around and sell the code for the digital copy. This is not true because even after installing the physical copy and playing
it w/o the disc. You would not be able to turn around and sell the physical copy and still have access to the installed version. The drm would have wiped the digital copy off of your hard drive

 

Can you install Xbox one games via disk but then use a digital code to avoid huge downloads?

If it works I would have thought you would have to rent the physical copy, install it and then buy the digital version.

 

Before downloading the game, under settings you shloudl have made your internal drive the "default" drive, since that was where the game was. It would have then just dl the license.

You should be able to delete the internal drives game. Just be careful to copy or move any saved games, etc.
