+ button greyed out when trying to add an Xbox development console

I have an actual xbox one headset and it also had the volume button grayed out and it says my headset is connected under connected devices. I bought a cheap one and it worked but it was
[Mod removed profanity]: couldn’t hear well but people could hear me, but it worked then my jerk dog ate it now I’m back to trying to use the good and correct one for my console and it does not work. I am very confused.

Just double check that the headset you have is compatible with Xbox One, and that you have all the headset cords plugged in correctly.

Which turtle beach headset? Different things depending on the headset and did you check that it is Xbox compatible?

If you try other headsets and they do not work there may be damage to your controller's headphone port and you may need to submit your controller for service.
