Bugged Gamertag

I was told to post on here after trying to get an answer to this issue for hours now. I am currently trying to get a gamertag. I had been watching the gamertag for a while now and when I saw Xbox changed its name, I quickly went to change my gamertag. This
was yesterday. I have been trying ever since. I've talked to multiple support agents and they have had no real explanation for this. The gamertag is not being used, but won't let mine to the gamertag I want. When searching for the profile with this gamertag
(lets say this gamertag is 123) it directs me to a profile with a different gamertag (lets call this new name 456).

So, on the accounts feed, it says "123 is now known as 456. When searching for 123, the same account pops up but now with the gamertag 456.

This is obviously some sort of bug and was wondering if you guys could possibly help me figure this out. I don't want to say the name of the gamertag for obvious reasons. Is there a way you could free up the gamertag because it obviously still thinks it's
linked to the old profile. Thanks

Gamertag question

Hello, is it possible to change the letter casing on my gamertag? My gamertag was made years ago and its bugged me for ages that the "z" is undercase and I didn't notice when I made the account. So was hoping the z in my gamertag could be capitalized.

This has been bugged for months, and appears to still be bugged

 

No one here would be able to free up the tag for you, but it can take some time before the servers completely update and allow the tag to be used. All you can do is keep trying to get the tag.

 

Doesn't this event end soon though? What happens after the 24 hours?

 

The gamertags are just being released over a 24 hour period, you don't have to claim them in the 24 hours.
