Bug: Xbox App cannot turn on Xbox if you turn the Xbox from within the console's menu

First let me say that this Xbox app streaming capability is a dream come true. I have played Xbox in my bed, in random rooms of the house, and even in the bathroom. I'm posting my findings in the forums to help improve the software. Let me know if there's
a better place to submit these issues.

If the Xbox One's power mode is set to "instant on", and you turn off the Xbox from the "More->Turn Off" option in the Xbox App for Windows 10, the Xbox App detects when the Xbox One has completed shut down, so the "Turn Off" option changes to "Turn On,"
and the Xbox One can be remotely turned on Again.

Issue: However, if one is streaming via the app, holds down the Xbox One controller's home button until the shutdown menu appears, and selects "turn console off," the Xbox app disconnects the streaming, but doesn't detect when the Xbox One has turned off.
Therefore, rather than revealing a "Turn on" button, the Xbox App only shows a "connect" button next to the name of my Xbox One. So when I click on "connect," the Xbox app fails to connect and asks me to make sure the Xbox One is still on and connected to
the network.

The current workaround is to close the Xbox App and open it again, so that the "turn on" option becomes available again.

Installing to hard drive

You cannot install original Xbox Titles to your HDD unless they are bought within the Xbox Marketplace. If you do not like how the game auto-plays when inserted or when you turn your Xbox 360 on you can disable that feature within the settings menu. Hope

Xbox!!!!

Are you on Windows 10? The Xbox app is part of Windows and cannot be uninstalled.

You can unpin the app tile from the Start menu by right-clicking it > Unpin from Start. This will remove the shortcut, but the app itself cannot be uninstalled.

You can also turn off background activity for the app, which will prevent it from running at all, unless you open it manually. To do this, open the Start menu > Settings (gear icon on left) > Privacy > Background apps > turn off Xbox.

There are unofficial ways to remove the apps, but this is not officially supported, and could cause issues with certain apps and games. The app will also be reinstalled when Windows is updated, as it's part of Windows.

 

Sadly this has not worked for me as my xbox is already on, and it still insists that it is not, and of course fails to connect, even after i reload the app

How is your Xbox One connected to your router? (wired or wireless)

Also, how many routers do you use in your network for the same SSID? (for example, I have one router, and it has another router connected to it which behaves as an access point)

Try a few things:

1.) If your Xbox is connected via an Ethernet cable, disconnect it and connect via wireless instead. If it's connected via wireless, try using an Ethernet cable.

2.) If the above does not work, can you login to your router and set the DHCP settings so that your Xbox One has a dedicated IP address? Then, reboot your router, reboot your Xbox One, and reboot your windows 10 PC. Then launch the Xbox app, and when you
try to add the Xbox One, you can enter the exact IP address of the Xbox that you had set in your router's settings.
