BUG REPORT: USB PORTS WILL SHUTDOWN CONSOLE!!!

An Xbox One Wireless Controller purchased in or after June 2015 can take updates wirelessly without connecting via USB cable. This controller has a small, circular 3.5-mm port on the bottom of the controller; controllers without this port must update
via USB cable.

While a USB cord is not needed for those controllers, we have seen cases where a USB cord helps prompt the update for the controller. For now, you should also

report this issue through the insider hub, as well as to the

insider reddit. Since your console is enrolled in the insider program, it is possible that you are experiencing a bug that would need to be reported in order to be looked into. You may also find other users experiencing
the same issue.

I'm sorry you are experiencing issues with your console's USB ports.

The USB ports on a Series X console are all the same in terms of speed and functionality, so your keyboard should work regardless of the port you choose to use. If this is not the case, there may be something physically wrong with the port itself.

If you haven't already, would you mind giving this a try?

- Go to Settings > General > Power options.

- Select "Shutdown (energy saving)"

- Press and hold your console's power button until it shuts down.

- Remove all external devices from your console's USB and expansion card ports.

- Unplug the console's power cord for 5 minutes.

- Plug the power cord directly into a wall outlet. Sometimes using extension cords, power strips, surge protectors, or similar devices, can cause power-related issues.

- Check the keyboard's cable and the USB port on your console for debris or dirt.

- Turn your console on, connect your keyboard, and check if the issues persist.

That's a good question op, I've had strange results with the xb1 usb ports. I use the back top usb for the charger and the reason is that that usb port overheats my usb hdd. The side usb and the back/bottom usb run both of my externals fine.

Back to your question op, Is this port playing up? Apart from opening up your xb1 and checking it visually and using a multimeter, there isn't much you can do.

Plug a flash drive, external, phone charger, or some other U.S.B. device into it, and see if it works?

Ask it to do algebra.

M.S. is a 'murica company. Algebra may be a bit advanced...maybe basic multiplication? Lol.
