[Bug Report - Pop Up Keyboard] Pop Up Keyboard Freezes After Repeated Use

I was playing Minecraft posting signs and after about 8 signs, the keyboard would pop up and freeze the whole console. The only way out of it was using the Kinect to kick the keyboard out.

However, my controller Guide button is now rendered useless. I can't snap with double click, I can't go Home with it, it doesn't even vibrate with a response. The controller works otherwise and taking the battery out and putting it back in doesn't fix it.
The only way I could make the Guide button work again is with a hard reset.

I went back into Minecraft, and a few more signs later it did it again. So I used the Kinect to get to the Guide, then tried opening the keyboard to message a friend to test it and it froze again. So the keyboard freezes for some reason, I think when you
open/close it repeatedly.

This really needs to get fixed for games that utilize the keyboard.

Xbox One virtual keypad

You might need to click A in the textbox in order for the keyboard to pop up. It does not always pop up automatically just because there is a text-input field on screen.

Alternatively, if you have a tablet or smartphone with Xbox One Smartglass, you could use that as a keyboard for your console.

 

XB1 Streaming To Win10. Data entry issue

I almost always stream my XB1 to my PC. In the past whenever I would have an option to enter text (where the on screen keyboard pops up) I would also get another pop up that allowed me to enter information using my PC keyboard. It stopped working about 2
weeks ago. As in, I don't get the pop up that allows me to use my PC keyboard for entry anymore. It makes me use the on screen keyboard with the controller. I have no clue why this stopped working and cant figure out how to make it work again.

 

Try doing a hard reset on the console. Hold the power button on the front of the XBOX for 10 seconds or until the unit shuts down completely. Let it sit for a couple of minutes the power it back up and test it to see if the issue is resolved. Good Luck!

 

Yeah I'm having the same problem and hard resetting didn't fix it for me its happened multiple times and I can't seem to find a permanent fix for it except dont type...

 

Only thing I could think of is try and update the controller with the usb cord ...

 

Happening here too! I tried to change my Spartan ID the other day and it locked up my whole console on several consecutive tries. I'm just back from the holidays and it's doing it as I try to sign into my Amazon Prime Video account. Halp!

 

Updating the controller does nothing just a heads up I think it may be related to devices connected to the x box though as strange as it may sound. I can go forever without it happening but as soon as I open up YouTube or my smartglass it starts locking
up again

 

Yeah man I'm having the same problem, pop up keyboard doesn't load, home button won't work on any controller, and even letters are missing in the "suggestions" box like if I type Minecraft it looks like this "M e a ft" it's so weird and I hate it.

 

This is happening to me as well. I can go a few days without it happening but some days it just doesn't stop and it gets quite irritating, especially when I'm trying to trade on Warframe.

I think it's probably a dashboard bug like the one where game clips wouldn't upload properly, so it will probably be fixed soon. Until then I'll use Xbox Smartglass as an alternative.

 

This has happened to my daughter as well when she plays Minecraft and putting up signs. And now because of that, when she tries to go into YouTube or Amazon, and it asks for a password, she is unable to use the keyboard at all! Any time she tries to move
the cursor to get to a different letter or something on the keyboard, it instead moves to "forgot password", which means the controller action isn't moving into the keyboard screen and instead staying with the App.

This needs fixed something fast.
