Bug Report - External Storage Issue - Xbox One

Hi Everyone

I know it is a little late in the day to be talking about errors so close to the series x release, but i still think it might prove helpful to know

Recently, whilst playing a game - My Xbox crashed and had to be returned to dashboard - After trying a few times to reload the game only to get the "sorry this is taking too long to load" message - I power cycled the xbox - When i then tried to load the game
- it told me the game was no longer installed, and when i checked my storage my external hdd was no longer listed

I removed the storage - a WD blue 5tb hdd in a mains powered caddy - and checked it both visually and with a laptop for errors or bad sectors - none were found i even checked for driver updates to which there were none - and plugged it back into the xbox

The xbox thought it was a new storage and asked me to format - which i did

So now the only games i had installed were a few small ones on my internal memory - all of the ones previously installed on the external were now no longer downloaded

I set the external to the default save location - and set about downloading a lot of games and dlc/ map packs etc back to the external - a process I am still going through - However yesterday when i turned on my xbox, it told me that all of these files had
completed their downloads, and were back on my external, however when trying to play any game - i still got the message that the game was not downloaded

So there is a disconnect between the console recognising which games should and shouldnt be installed on the external - even after formatting - At one point the console even told me I only had 2 games that needed to be installed - instead of the 170+ usually
listed - even when the external wasnt attached - I had to power-cycle again before it updated to the full list

I had to manually click every game in my games and app list and select uninstall - even though the external was at 0% storage use and was empty, before the console realised they werent on the external

I'm pretty sure my external is kaput at this point - i will get a new one when i get the series x - but i still think there is something weird going on with the recognition of the external and the console not knowing it was empty properly - It will be good
to investigate for anyone that is going to be keeping their external and using it with the series x - because it might not realise there is even any games on it
