BT Homehub 4 Open NAT Solution!

MrBungie06, it is apparent that you are getting the error about services (ports) being assigned to another device because those services (ports) are already forwarded to the 360--either manually or via UPnP.

Snakebit333, no, putting one in the DMZ and port forwarding to the other will NOT work to get open NAT on both at the same time. DMZ essentially forwards to the specified device all ports not already forwarded via manual setting or UPnP. When you setup a
manual port forward, that port will not and cannot be forwarded to another device in the DMZ. You simply can't forward a port to two different IPs at the same time, regardless of whether you forward using manual, DMZ, or UPnP.

    :)

GZA, yeah so I need to know either how to force the hub to release that port again once the 360 isn't being used (which is what it should do yes?) Or clear the upnp settings completely from the router so that I can assign those ports to the Xbox One.

But I can't find anyone who has managed to get both machines working properly on the home hub 5. Didn't have this issue at all with my Virgin media setup so I'm looking at buying an open reach modem off eBay and going back to my old dd-wrt enabled router
that worked fine using upnp on all my consoles

MrBungie06, if you have set up manual port forwards to the 360, only deleting those will release those ports and allow you to forward them to the One. If the ports are auto forwarded via UPnP, then whether and after what period of inactivity those ports
will be released is dependent on the router and its UPnP implementation. You may be able to manually clear UPnP entries via the web interface or a simple reboot.

  7. Sadly it seems that the Home Hub 5 is just too restrictive in what you can do with it. I've been on the BT forums and it seems that it is a problem with their hubs going back a couple of models now.

There just aren't the options to really get inside the meat of what the router does to clear upnp etc. I've also read that doing a factory reset isn't a true factory reset, as it maintains any upnp rules that have been set.

I didn't do any port forwarding to my 360, I just let upnp take care of it, and of course now I'm stuck :/ I'll try a factory reset as a last resort, but it seems that the only people who have had any kind of luck, are those who managed to set up a brand
new Home Hub with the Xbox One first before adding any other devices. Which is really poor on BT's part.

I don't understand why these IPS's insist on blocking off so many features on routers. Just hide the real advanced stuff behind passwords and warning screens and let people who want full control have it!

BT Homehub 4 Open NAT Solution!

    Superb!

Had a real problem hosting Home games on FIFA, found that my NAT was set to "Moderate", like others, have followed other guides which left me on Moderate, but followed this guide and now my NAT is "Open"!!!

Thank you ever so much for a great guide, I can finally get some Home advantage! ;-)

(This was a Homehub 4 by the way)

Call of duty ghosts now uses the port 3076, do all of the same above but add a port range of 3074-3076, complete all the other steps listed above, NAT type should now be open

  13. BT Homehub 4 Open NAT Solution!

I've just upgraded from a Homhub2 to Homehub4. Never had an issue with the Hub2, plug and play. Hub4 what a headache. However....

Finally it worked. I found that with the majority of electrical data devices these days whenever you apply any form of changes or updates then they need a technical reboot (turn it off and on) Back to Open NAT, thanks for the heads up.

When I try the first method I get an error stating:

    "Conflict

The game or application you’ve selected conflicts with an application () you’ve already assigned to another device. Please remove the other application or select the same device."

  15. I have a BT Home Hub 5 that is four days old as of writing this message. I connected my xbox over WIFI and had a 'moderate' NAT setting and after following exactly what the guide said I now have an 'open' setting. So it works perfectly! Thanks
