Brothers Microsoft Account hacked. Not a happy customer.

For almost 1 month now my brother has not been able to access his Xbox live account. We have had to put up with a lot of dead end service. I am frustrated, he is frustrated. We have all evidence that it is his account, from gamer tag to previously used Xbox
live codes. The issue is that his email (Microsoft, so it's the same username & pasword as Xbox live..) was hacked by someone from Israel, Microsoft even sent him a kind email to warn him. Unfortunately he ended up losing access to the email & now the Xbox
live account. I paid for his Xbox live subscriptions & He has paid $100's on DLC.

All we want to do is provide sufficient evidence that the account is in fact his & have your support team change the Hotmail that is linked to his new Gmail account. So he can then access Xbox live. He has no interest in waiting more months to try and recover
his Hotmail account when Microsoft have been nothing but unreliable with verification steps, recovering, etc.

It's no wonder everyone is moving onto ps4, wii U etc. i might just have to do the same. Start doing your jobs, before you don't have one.

people don't need to change email address when compromised, they need to change password and make sure they have proper security... that includes not using passwords on more than one service, if one service is compromised all those details are sold.

Someone in another country will pop up with it, even if it takes years to happen. My skype password took approximately 4 years from compromise to have someone log in and use it.

This app makes you click approve when logging into websites, and it's instant once you click "accept" the website will load in normal.

Any devices that don't work with the app like xbox 360 will have you go to website once to create a password (it will generate a password that isn't easy) and you use that on those devices to login with your normal user name.

 

& do not tell me to "please fill out this form"

Tell me who i need to call in Australia to have his email changed with sufficient evidence.

 

1800 555 741 is the Aussie support number, you should be able to provide the old email address and any billing information on the account to prove you own it and they'll update the email for you.

Sorry to hear about your fustrations. You would need to call support so they can file a unauthorized access claim on the account.

 

I also wanted to add that a gamertag on the console cannot be hacked. More than likely what has happened is that your brother either willingly gave out the information in hopes to receive something for his account or someone phished him for clues on what
his login and password were.

But be sure to follow the steps above and good luck getting it back up and running.

 

A system of justice is never perfect, especially one in a cyber enviornment.

One who follows the rules and is a good sport is seldom wrongly accused and punished outright.
