Broken Xbox mics (can still hear others through headset but can't reply)

I have had two Xbox one mics from microsoft in the last two months and both now have that same issue. I have 3 xbox 360 over my 5 years and they only broke from general wear and tear. Please and on tell me how to resolve this if not, A PS4 is on my birthday
wishlist and not an Xbox one mic.

Hi. Thanks for responding. The headset which worked for the first 5 months was a BUTFULAKE Gaming Headset SL-300.
You can hear through the headset but the mic stopped working (can still hear though). We then purchased a Turtle Beach Ear Force XO Three headset; can hear through the headset but mic doesn't. Don't know if this is true but son says when moving/tampering with
the mic others can hear the noise that creates but when my son speaks into the mic others cannot hear him.

 

Can't join party with a friend

Same problem. Also notice that I can't hear some people in game chat (their mics light up, so I know they're talking). Seems to be an issue with people wearing headsets. Kinects still go through lol. Also, my NAT is Open. This is bogus, Xbox.

First off, sorry to hear about your headset issue. Second, have you tested your headsets using the "test the headset" steps from the support page for Xbox One Chat
Headset Troubleshooting ? If it doesn't pass that test, it may need a replacement. If your headset passes that test, it may be some other cause for the chat mic not to transmit.



One thing is your connection. If on your Xbox One, your 'detailed network statistics' don't meet the recommendations on the

Xbox Live connection help page for Slow Performance , you'll want to try those steps to improve your Live performance, and then try the headset again.

There are also some very handy steps on the support page to
Troubleshoot Parties on Xbox One that may help you out.

Start there, and post back here with your results. Hopefully, those steps will help. If not, they may at least point us in the right direction to go next.

Thank you for your suggestion, I have tried testing the mic and my network and the network was fine but the mics are both broken. I guess I will have to pay for another one but if their is any other companies making Xbox one headsets I would appreciate if
someone told me their names. The Microsoft headsets are to weak and flimsy so I will not be going for one of them. I hope in time the design is redone so that they work for long periods of time but they don't now. My problems are that one only works when I
move the wire around. the other does not work at all expect the light comes on when I mute them and the volume buttons work. Please Microsoft, fix the mics.

I hate to give up on your headsets. Other than the headset test from that page I linked you to, did you also try the other steps on the top of the page there:

• Disconnect the headset, and then reconnect it firmly to the controller's expansion port.
  

Note Never pull on the headset cable when removing it from your controller. Remove your headset from your controller by pulling on the body of the headset plug.

• Make sure the headset is not muted. To do this, check the mute button on the headset controls.
  
• Try using a different controller or headset to check for a hardware malfunction.
  
• If you’re not hearing sound while in Party Chat, but you can hear sound while using in-game chat or another app like Skype, see
  
  Troubleshoot parties on Xbox One.
  

I just want to make sure that we exhaust all of our options, before we write off the headsets that you have. For other controllers, you can try a friend's, and make sure that the batteries are brand-spanking new.

 

I had the same problem all I did is just let the kinect see me rely up close putting the connecter back in so the kinect can see me now it workers

 

I've had the same problem.

My headset broke about a month ago. I can still hear people, but unless my mic is muted, it makes a constant crackling sound that pisses everyone off.

Now, it usually doesn't even make the crackling sound and doesn't have any capability for people to hear me.

How can I get another one?

 

im having a problem that i can talk through the headset and my friends can hear me but when they talk i cant hear them please help

 

My xbox one mic have sound but my mic not picking up nothing that I said in a party!!

 

Help me too! I was playing nba2k14 on xbox one and 3 of my friends were playing and talking fine! Then all of a sudden they hear a crackling sound and they said it was from me. And it was so I unplugged it and it did not work. Eventually my mic just died
on me. When I plug it in it seems as if it does not fit right and also when I plug it in I can hear my friends turn up and down the volume and mute my mic! But I can't talk myself! Please help.....

 

I have the same problem as you guys. The microphone mute light will light up but the volume buttons don't work and they don't make a sound when you keep pushing the volume up sound and it will give you a feedback sound that you've reach the volume high limit.

People can hear me through the headset but I cannot hear them.

 

yep, shaddy workmanship on the mics MS. Mine stopped working as well. I can hear folks but they can't hear me. I decided to wait until a non MS mic is issued because paying 500.00 for a console 3 months ago and having to endure tons of technical glitches
and now a broken mic, while folks who waited to buy it get 1 or 2 AAA games for free, makes me reconsider giving MS any more of my hard earned cash. (that and paying 30.00 bucks for a 2.00 piece of plastic is just plain silly)! OOOO I am mad at you MS!

 

Same, I have decide to pay £88 pound for a turtle beach for my birthday, that should be very high quality
