Broken software or controller?

    I have seen this issue come up before for other people, I was looking at the same issue on a thread from 2015, the answer of resetting the xbox cache didnt solve my issue though.

    When i select a tile i see a glow around it as if it was selected and i checked that the A button was registering and it was but I have to hold the A button then tap it several times before my xbox will selected the desired app or game.

    The other thing that's happening is my selection box jumps 2 to 3 tiles when I use my D-pad or analog stick to select an app.

    Again clearing the cache didn't fix my issue and it doesn't matter if I use my brand new controller or my old controller.

    Can anyone help?

    Time zones are matching, and no disc in drive. That link is the one I was referring to that blacked out my console.

    Here's a pic of what it caused to my Xbox after trying the Offline Diagnostic Tool:

    Any other help is needed. This is getting amazingly annoying and I can't pay to buy a new one with working software.

    Yeah, I'm not sending my console in without a replacement first. I spent $500 on this and it barely works. So, unless they want to send me an X1 first while I have t wait for a fix, then this can't happen.

    Any other suggestions are welcome.

    Advance exchange: Microsoft will send a replacement product to you first, and then you'll send back your non-working item. There are a few important things to note about advance exchange:

    • A service fee may apply
    • You must provide credit card details for an advanced exchange. A hold for the value of the console or Kinect sensor will be placed on your credit card.
    • You're responsible for sending the non-working product in within 14 days after receiving the replacement to avoid having your credit card charged.
    To request advance exchange, contact Xbox Support to verify your eligibility.

    If it freezes during the update or after, and the offline tool does not work, then you need to send in your console for repair.
