Broken SD Card Storage Device!! Help!!

I have a Xbox with a 4g Hard Drive, so I use a combination of 1 16gb flash-drive and 1 16gb SD card which is plugged in using a SD card -> USB adapter. I have had my Xbox set up since December and I have not yet had ANY problems of ANY kind besides this
new one, so yes they worked perfectly for several months.

So, the story goes that I was playing Watch Dogs last night for a good 2 hours, really enjoying it as I got it last night and it was the first time I had played. I had to install 8gb-ish installation package on my 16gb SD Card storage device, which was no
problem at all. So I was playing for about 2 hours when all all of a sudden I get an error message saying the game content has been disconnected from the Xbox and the game would quit. So obviously the Xbox has lost connection to that 8gb installation file
and can no longer play the game. At first I thought that the card simply got loose, so I push it back in and go do some HW because I needed to. I then come back later that night and try to play, completely having forgot about the problem as I thought I have
fixed it, however when I try to boot the game it comes up as still missing the data. So I go to System Settings -> Storage and I look at the SD Card Storage device. When I get there it has my other flash-drive plugged in and showing all the data, but for the
SD Card storage device, all it says is the name of the device, but no data info. So I click select the SD Card storage device and click A. When I get there the Xbox tells me that I have to format my storage device to make it compatible for the Xbox to use.
This is a problem

I had already formatted the storage device and had been using it for SEVERAL months, why would it just stop working, and stop working while playing a game at that? I REALLY don't want to reformat the SD card because I will loose about 8gb of save game data,
and 8gb of save game data is a lot. I need help!

I tried plugging the sd card into my computer so that I could pull the data off, format the drive, and put it back on, but the file wont copy over due to having illegal characters in the name AND not having an extension. This is really odd. Here

Please help guys! I really don't want to loose 16 gb worth of game data!

I can't install xbox games on my Windows Phone

Do you have an external SD card? If so, can you try installing the app/game onto the other storage device (if you've been trying to install to SD, install to internal; if internal so far, try SD card)? Let us know how you get on.

Hi Pokey. Sorry its not working as you want it too. So are you trying to play the videos through Xbox Video? You could always put them on your Skydrive, or an external storage device such as a Micro SD card.

sorry to say if the system does not see that card anymore your only option is to format it, to why it stopped working dunno maybe cause it is a SD card in a USB adapter you should just stick with flash drive/drives instead.

Looks like the file was corrupted, in the middle of the game, for some unknown and fiercely messed up reason. I was able to recover the files in the form of .chk files, now all I have to do is restore the files from .chk to whatever format xbox uses

Do you have an SD card in your device?

Error 910 seems happens when an SD card set as a default storage.

Solutions:

1. Go to storage setting and set default storage setting to “Phone memory” or “Let the device decide”. Try to reinstall the app again.

2. Move the app to internal storage and then back to external storage (SD card), reboot and then try to update it.

No as they have to be stored encrypted folder on a hdd or ssd

A SD card wouldn't haveenough read write speed and isn't practical for game storage

You gotta remember games read and rwrite constantly

It would wear out your SD card fast

And yes SD cards have limited life expectancy a lot less then a hdd would 10k read and writes at best

A micro SD card even at the 533x is only 80-100 mbps this also causes extreme heat

A hdd would be 200-800 mbps per second over usb even faster internally

Then you are talking gbps

Desktop Apps and games arent like mobile games they take a lot more processing and reading and writing to cache then mobile games and you are talking about gigabytes more space

Hdds and ssd have built-in caches which help speeds things along

SD cards aren't meant for constant reading and writing they are meant for backups or storage that's it

Xbox app stores games on encrypted storage folders your SD card reader wouldn't be able to keep up with your download

This ia also whynyou cant download directly onto yours card on phones

You have to download to nand storage before moving to your sdcard

This is why it takes so long to copy files ovrr

Most SD cards will only read at certain speeds but for writing it's a lot less

20-50mbps depending on your card unless you are spending a lot like hundreds it's not likely extreme you have to read the specs on your card most standard micro SD would be 20-40mbps max
