  1. Broken eject function and warranty process

I have recently discovered what I had been dreading was going to occur, finally has. My Xbox One, that I saved my rear end off for to get my 5 children for Christmas, has stopped ejecting, regardless of the manual attempts, it will not read the disk it
has ingested either. I had to spend around $500 for this machine, that was not easy to come by. So it is increasingly disheartening to know realize that as in the past, with the (6) different Xbox 360's I had spent money on, that Microsoft will once again
not stand behind its products. The disk tray is an obvious issue as any can read on the Internet. And as I have just been made aware by Microsoft, I am 1 month, 1 week, 1 day too long for the 30 day grace period provided by Microsoft beyond it 1 year warranty.
It is not a surprise to me that this machine failed just outside of warranty. $130 is what's now required out of me to even retrieve my game disk that's still inside. This machine is supposed to last until it's replacement (next gen console), not it's warranty
date. I am appalled at the lack in customer care in this regard. Fix my machine for free, or I will never buy another Microsoft product, as I cannot afford such expensive disposable products. This is uncalled for, another round of red rings of death, c'mon
you guys, I pulled for the one and not the PS4, I loyally bought another device, please don't make me regret it.. I do not believe that the period of 1 year adequately covers the period of time in which problems will likely occur, 18 months min would be more
correct. Someone please answer this, this is what was suggested to me by support on the phone! I'm a disabled dad looking for some help here. Thanks for hearing me out.

    :)

    Warranty Exchange Process

I encountered a costly mistake at the Bellevue, WA store and I hope this note will improve the warranty exchange process. On Tuesday (1/24) I was able to exchange my defective Xbox One console for a new Xbox One S console - very much appreciated. Unfortunately,
the warranty exchange process is new to me and when I got home I realized my old power cord didn't fit the new S model. On Wednesday the cord was exchanged and now I realize my favorite game disk "Rise of the Tomb Raider" was left in the old console, which
was shipped to Destroyland never to be heard from again. I take responsibility for these mistakes, but they were costly (I'll buy a used replacement "Tomb Raider" game today for $30). It would be nice if the sales staff had a check list to make an exchange
error-free at the beginning (e.g. check power cord, check for embedded game disks) - seems simple enough. Thanks for listening.

Way to open did tray in game without using the eject button?

    [quote user="smrtsnipe"]

I have the classic Xbox and my eject button broke, which isn't a big deal usually because I can eject on the dashboard. However, i just bought dead space 2 and it has two disks, and to progress in-game to the next half it required you to put the disk in,
in-game. I tried saving, then going to the dashboard and putting in disk two then playing from there but it requires disk one. so is there a way to eject the disk tray in game without using the eject button? thanks!

    Hello smrtsnipe,

For this issue, you may have to manually eject the Xbox 360 Disc Drive. This can be done with a paperclip, but is not recommended to be done in game. If your Xbox 360 is still under warranty, you may want to contact Xbox Customer Support and get a repair.
If you are not under warranty, you will need to
    perform these steps
. If you have any other questions, don't hesitate to ask!

  4. Broken eject function and warranty process

Hi there, so phone support wasn't open to honouring the warranty per your situation? That's something I was going to suggest, if they've told you that they can't do it under warranty then unfortunately it doesn't seem like it's going to be repaired for fee.

You might already know, but the cost of a repair is much cheaper than replacing the console, I would suggest going through the repair process:
    https://myservice.xbox.com/

Also the disc drive is much less of an issue in the Xbox One then the first round of 360's as the tray doesn't eject, only the disc so people aren't using force to push it back in. It's unfortunate that your console has this issue as mine is still going
strong from the day it released.

Contact support, and go through their troubleshooting process, if/when that doesn't work, if your xbox is still under warranty they'll repair it assuming you haven't broken any of the void warranty seals nor any water damage

    Xbox Disc Ejection options.

If you press the eject button it will try to initiate an eject sequence regardless if it thinks there is a disc. This says to me that the eject mechanism itself is broken inside the drive and you’ll have to send it in for service.
