Broken disc drive not allowing update

Hello Austin, I see in your description that you have already opened the console, in this case the ideal would be to seek some technical assistance specialized in Games, because unfortunately the Xbox One S has been discontinued and no longer has the repair service paid by Microsoft.

If the discs are scratched and or broken, the Xbox will not read them. What you can try doing is renting them, installing the respected games from the rented disc. Luckily, your Xbox recognizes the discs though the imperfections so you'll be fine. The
Xbox will need to be able to recognize the game before allowing it to be ran from the hard drive.

As Above and i have to have it boxed up ready for the courier as i dont know when he will turn up so cant even play it till then. Then its a day to get there. Then they have to test and then if they dont have them in stock will have to wait till they do.
this could take ages

It isn't necessarily instant. I bought online, and had to have my console picked up by courier - I have to wait for them to receive it, and then decide to send a replacement, so I'm without my console for most of a week. It would be nice if anyone who needed
a replacement due to the disc drive issue got the code.

Those of us who have to send our consoles back to the online retailer are in a worse position that those getting a replacement directly from Microsoft.
