    BROKEN AGAIN: Forza Horizon 5: "Something went wrong launching your game"


    EDIT -- 2/16/2022 -- it's back, I cannot launch Forza Horizon 5. very upset.

    So for the past month, I've had this occur three times.

    Each of the first two times, I completely uninstalled and reinstalled FH5, which caused a litany of errors (including reducing my Wheelspin awards - which continues today - MANY fewer purple/gold and mostly green points/cars).

    In any case, the SOLUTION to this WAS actually quite simple, but sometimes hard to debug:

    The newest/latest version of FH5 *REQUIRES* updated video drivers. The game will NOT run without the drivers updated.

    That's what the error is.

    Instead of "something went wrong launching your game", Microsoft could SIMPLY change the error message to "UPDATE YOUR VIDEO DRIVERS".

    Turns out that it was a FAILED UPDATE.

    That is - tried to find update > and it failed and crashed.

    Eventually it went through.

    Did you get it to work? I have the same issue since about three days, Something Went Wrong" failure to launch 0x800701b1. Tried all the usual stuff like reinstalling the game, game service, xbox app, resstting everything etc.

    This was exceptionally useless. Do you have a credible answer, or are you just earning 'points' for your third party company?

    The error is simply "Something went wrong launching your game" [OK]

    I've reset Microsoft Gaming Services.

    I've logged out of Xbox and back in.

    I have not reinstalled the game, which would be the third time in two weeks.

    There is no way to force an update.

    Game broke again today.

    FH5 is a nightmare - last week has been an utter disaster.

    I had to repair/reset the game THREE TIMES today for the update to start.

    Otherwise "Something Went Wrong" failure to launch 0x80008000
