Broken Account - Awful Support

Hi,

I’ve been having this issue for the best part of 6 months and it’s still not resolved. Multiple attempts to contact Xbox with live agents, asking the same questions again and again.

The issues are:

I can’t hear anyone in game chat

My audio isn’t broadcasted on my friends stream (no option to include audio)

When looking at the privacy settings (Xbox One/Windows 10 Online Safety) for my account, there are parts that I can’t change:

Broadcast gameplay - Set to block

You can share content made using Kinect or another camera - Set to block

Others can share your content to social networks - Set to block

If I change the above to Allow and hit submit, it reloads and nothing changes.

I’ve changed the settings from the following places:

Xbox One

Safari on iOS

Edge on Windows 10

Chrome on Windows 10

Chrome on macOS

Safari on macOS

This is the most common question I get from support (every. single. time). I’ve also now left my Xbox Family, as that was another recommendation and the results are the same.

I’m at my wits end with this, I can’t be included in my friends’ stream and I can no longer hear people in game.

My next option is to cancel everything and become a PC gamer.

Unfortunately, there is only so much we can do/sugest here as the majority of us are fellow gamers without any access/affiliation to MS. Support is the best way to resolve this but, as you have discovered, it's not always useful (then again, that is the same for most companies)

Regarding becoming a PC Gamer, even though I'm an Xbox Gamer, I'd always recommend going for a PC if you can afford the hardware...generally you get many more options, ability to run at higher refresh rates etc. On a price basis, the console is more efficient of course with a Series X comparable PC being the better part of $2000 (if not more with current tech prices). However, on PC you still need to deal with Microsoft unless you get Linux and then use Steam etc. Even then a lot of games still use Xbox Live Services and you would then still run into the same issue given it seems your account is the issue.

Sorry, this post wasn't helpful. Your in-game audio issue would normally point to the Xbox Communication options, specifically "allowed to communicate with people outside friends list" (or whatever it's listed as) but I'm guessing you've already checked the Xbox Comm options

According to the date that was entered when creating the Xbox account, is the account over 18 years of age? I am asking only about the date when you created the account. If your account was a child account, was the "parent" account able to promote the child account to an adult account before leaving the family?

Definitely 18 when I started. I’m 31 now, so it’s always been that way. I was in a family as the organiser, but left that as recommended by Microsoft support.
