Broke wired controller

I have a old wired xbox 360 controller, It works great, but every game I play, my right stick makes my character look up. Please help.

Do you like using the wired or wireless controller for the Xbox 360?

I like using the wireless Controller since my wired controller is broken.

 

Gears of War consoles freezes, has red power light when wired controller plugged in.

If im reading this right, Your wired controller is broken, like there's something shorting it out. Causing the power failure, and seeing that you said wireless controller work fine on the gears of war console, It points at the fact that the wired controller
that you are using is broken.

Thumbstick drift will creep in on old controllers at some point. You could send in the controller for repair, but to be honest, it'll be cheaper and much quicker to just go out and buy a replacement.

Alternatively, you could probably find a replacement thumbstick mechanism yourself, and take the controller apart and remove the old one, then solder the new part on. But again, you wouldn't be saving a whole lot and there's the chance you could break something
else while trying to fix it.

 

i was under the impression we couldn't suggest self-repairs here, but since we are on the topic, i will mention that a replacement stick is only about $5, and the right stick is easier to replace than the left. for the left stick you also have to remove
the left trigger mechanism. either way, it can be tricky if you don't have a desoldering iron to suck up the solder. using a solder wick doesn't really work too well. i really don't suggest it unless you know what you are doing.

 

Since the Xbox 360 has not reached EOL status, it won't be long before self/third party repair is the only option.
