Bricked by Power Outage?

We have a first gen Xbox One that my kids were playing when the power flickered during a storm, then went out. The power came back on a few minutes later, but the Xbox won't turn on.

It was connected to a powerstrip/surgeprotector. Everything else on that surge protector works. The Xbox One X in another room was unaffected (but wasn't on at the time).

The touch-sensitive front of the Xbox One is completely unresponsive. We've tried it in another outlet. We've tried connecting a recharge cable to the console, then to a controller, to manually turn it on (with the controller) nothing.

Is it the power supply for the Xbox? Is the xbox itself shot?

Alpha update problems

Your console wasn't bricked. Bricked means like a brick, dead, not usable, won't power on. You can't restore an Alpha console with USB, that is only for public builds.

 

Why is the reason for the Xbox One power BRICK?

I have never had a laptop without a power brick. Even my netbook that I use for my band has a power brick.

 

It could be either or. The best way to find out would be if you have a friend that has an original Xbox One to borrow their power supply to see if it works with your Xbox one. If it does then the power supply is fried. If it doesnt then its the Xbox itself.
