Xbox series s brand new out of the box. I go through the initial setup, but then get the message "There was a problem with the update", and error code 0x80072F8F 0x00000000 0x00000201. When I select 'Check Network', I get the message 'Your network is good, but there are some Xbox service issues'. I have tried using multiple connections, wired and wireless. I have tried the full factory reset. I have applied offline updates using a USB with the OSU1 contents. Nothing has fixed the problem. Hoping someone has a fix.

Updating with resolution: I shipped it back to MS and they are repairing / replacing it.

    :)

Hello, not_happy__. Thanks for reaching out! I'm an Independent Advisor and a Microsoft Community expert user. I'll be happy to assist you today.

Sorry to hear about the issue. That message pops up whenever there is a service alert on Xbox website. But looking on Xbox server status, nothing is wrong:

I'd suggest you to remove the account from your console (if you actually set up one), clear the console cache, do a network reset and download your account again. Follow the step by step instructions:

    Removing Xbox account:

Press the Xbox button to open the guide.

Select Profile & system > Settings > Account > Remove accounts.

Select the account that you want to remove, and then select Remove to confirm.

    Clear Cache:

Go to Settings > System > Console info > Reset Console > Reset and Keep my Games & Apps.

    Network Reset:

Go to Settings > Network Settings > Advanced Settings > Alternate Mac Address > Clear it and the console should restart. It would definitely help if you could restart the internet router while the console is restarting.

Download your Xbox profile to the Xbox One console:

    1. Scroll left on the Home screen to open the guide.

    2. Scroll down, and then select Add & manage.

    3. Select Add new.

    4. Enter the email address for the Microsoft account that's associated with your Xbox profile, and then select Enter.

    5. Enter the password for your Microsoft account, and then select Enter.

    6. Read the Microsoft Service Agreement and Privacy Statement, and then select I Accept.

    7. Follow the steps to configure your Sign-In & Security preferences and download your Xbox profile to your Xbox

You may the need to send the Xbox back to where you brought it from and let them know it doesn't work, and get a replacement or send the console to Xbox for them to repair it
