    Brand new Xbox Series S streaming issue


    Hello,

    I am having some strange visual distortion issues on my brand new Xbox series out of the box. For both Netflix and Hulu, streaming causing visual distortion regardless of title. There is no issues during gaming, everything looks good for multiple titles. Internet connection is good and the same show runs fine on my computer using the same wifi connection. TV is running at a modest 1080p, 60hz.

    Troubleshooting steps so far:

    • Hard reset Xbox series S.
    • Removed and reinstalled netflix and hulu apps.
    • Tested HDMI with computer and output to netflix to TV with no issues (i.e. TV and HDMI seem ok).
    • Tested network statistics (seems ok, see below), but regardless gaming and netflix streaming is ok on PC with same Internet connection.
    So as far as I can tell, the issue seems to be isolated on the Xbox side of the equation. Has anyone experienced this? It's bizarre this only affects streaming apps but games are working fine.

    Let me know if additional information is needed.

    Hi again,

    Here are the pictures you requested. I've troubleshooting with the TV display options already. I was able to try a second TV this weekend that was also 1080p and the issue persists on the second TV. It seems to be on the Xbox end, not the TV side.

    Hi again,

    No problem I work in technical service as well. Just to try, I did a manual update via the USB. No luck. I've attached the OS version. I actually just created another once, I believe the title was "video glitches". It was stamped today around 17:05 EST.

    Seems like the updates aren't helping unfortunately. Let me know when they get back to you.

    I'll have to find that, I didn't get an email or anything.

    I'm not sure if my xbox has updated with the preview though. I have it set to the omega ring and automatic updates but it doesn't seem to be on the latest insider build. Is there a way to manually force an update?

    Okay, can you share the feedback link here, please? I’ll ask the team about it.

    The Insider update should’ve improved the performance, so it’s strange that it hasn’t made any difference. If you joined the Omega preview, this is the most recent update (it’s possible that it installed automatically by itself if the option to keep your console up to date is enabled):

    Hi Kyle,

    I received a response from the team.

    There unfortunately doesn’t seem to be an exact timeframe as to when software updates would launch, but they confirmed that this issue should already be resolved for everyone.

    Taking another look at it, the November 16th public update (the one you’re currently on) has the same OS version as the relevant Insider ones, so it theoretically should’ve patched the issue:

    10.0.22621.2858 (xb_flt_2211ni.221110-2020)

    They recommended trying to manually update your console (see ‘update manually’ under ‘available system updates’). If your console is already up to date and this isn’t an option (or if it doesn’t make any difference), then it would be best to join an Insider preview and install the update as this should resolve this. If not, we can always consider other possible solutions :)

    Also, does the stuttering error affect audio as well or the visual display only?
