Brand New XBox One won't read discs

Hello,

I just bought a brand new Xbox One S and when we first opened it, my kids were able to load up one new game by inserting the disc. Ever since then, it won't read any of the discs. We keep getting a message telling us to ensure that the disc has been inserted
or to clean it, even though the games we are trying are brand new and the Xbox is also brand new. (error code: 0X82D40004) Can anyone give us suggestions?

It sounds like a faulty disc reader. I would exchange it since it's so new. That's what I would do at least.

I'm sorry to hear you are experiencing these difficulties!

To be honest, if the console is brand new and out of the box not reading discs I would recommend exchanging it at the store. You paid good money for the console, unfortunately sometimes these hiccups happen, might as well exchange it for a nice new working
one

If you're having any disc-related problems, make sure your console is placed horizontally on a flat, stable surface. The console isn't designed to operate in a vertical position because it could affect
disc drive performance.

Did you update the console to the latest available update for the operating system.

If so, take the disc out and try to do a hard reset/power cycle by pressing and holding the xbox logo in the front of console until it switches off.

Wait 30 seconds before switching it on.

Not true.The xbox one s can be used in a vertical position.Microsoft sell the stand if you want it vertical.

Sounds like the op has a faulty disc drive & as already mentioned,it would be best to take it back to where it was bought & get a replacement as it's a brand new console.
