Brand new Xbox one s crashes and restarts or turns off

Try plugging power chord directly into wall socket. I was having same issue looked up power up issues on the Xbox support and they state that the one s has a built in surge protector that is why there is no brick with it. So you need to plug directly into
wall socket and power cycle machine by disconnecting the console end and the plug from wall and wait 10 seconds, I did 30 just to be sure. Since doing this I have stopped having issues with quitting and switching games. From disc game to downloaded game. From
downloaded game to disc game and downloaded to downloaded.

 

It also said you have to do this process whenever you experience a power surge of our age as well. My main issue was playing Madden when you turn off console it knicks you off ea servers I'd quit and try reloading and it would always power off. No issues
now will update if that changes

 

Got rid of the console today. Cant begin to describe my disappointment with the S and Microsoft in general over this. How do you get this wrong? After all the hype.....

If the issue is the power strip, that's a joke. It's 2016. People use power strips to plug in multiple devices. That should be assumed. I highly doubt that matters, but if it does I don't want any part of it. The two weeks I had it were full of glitches.

Luckily I have a Forza Edition which has none of these issues but, seriously, seriously, bummed. Red ring of death twice and this. Why I even continue with MS is a mystery.

Power strips have never been supported for the original Xbox One or Xbox One S console. Both Xbox One consoles have a surge protector built in, which means you shouldn't need to use a power strip. If you haven't tested your Xbox One without using a power

same on my one s, resets after starting a game, dashboard home crashes, if I was in the store home screen crashes and pressing guide bitton results in a errorcode being shown with no real cure except for a gard reset of the box...

I switched from a vanilla xbox one to the s due to hardware failure and noq this crap...

I don't have xbox one s . I have original one.

Since last update or maybe 1 month max. Anytime I switch let say from a game to youtube and go back to a game the screen is black and if I quit game by pressing start on game icon and quit and try to start it my xbox turn off automatically and restart.

Same if I play a game turn off my xbox come back later as soon as I'll press the game icon to continue (xbix is on instant on mode) it will be black I can hear sounds but cannot do anything and xbox will restart . But if I just play without changing app
or coming back to the same game it will be fine in can play 10 hours in a row bo prob.

 

Honestly, this sounds like it may be either one, or a combo of both hardware and software. You should be within the return window, I would say take it back to the store for an exchange
