Brand new Xbox one s crashes and restarts or turns off

My brand new xbox one s console turns off or restarts after i quit a game and launch a game. it has been doing this since i bought it on august 4th. Would this be a software issue or an issue with the console?

Xbox One S restarts on power-off

I use 2TB HDDs each and after a few updates, the Xbox One S device restarts every time I turn it off. Before the updates I turned it off, and the Xbox One S went off normally. I've already noticed if the power setting is for economy or fast linking, and
it's in the power saving option! I want a help to understand what happens with the Xbox One S ... Every time I turn the device off, it restarts and only after the second power off does the device really turn off.

Do you have your Xbox One console set to >>energy saver or instant on<< mode? Try switching to the opposite of the one
you are currently using and let us know how that goes.

 

The mine dont start after I download a Update system. Bug bug bug, all i can see.

To check, do you have your Xbox One S plugged directly into a power outlet or do you have a power strip or converter between the two? If you have a power strip please be sure to plug directly into a wall outlet, as power strips aren't supported.

 

I have the same crashing issues. I also have a loss of wifi after about two weeks or so resetting the console to factory is the only thing that allows the wifi to be enabled again. I have it wired currently and just been dealing with the crashes.

 

Crashes only when quitting games and switching to a new game? So I you only play one game and don't switch games you don't have the problem? We might be onto something here!

You are correct if we have the cause of the issue and if they know the latest update started this then it was clearly OS only other question is how do we troubleshoot it?

Wait....the problem might be the power strip? How the heck could that possibly have an impact. I have this same issue and I'm about ready to sell the console.

 

It may be the lack of power resulting in this issue power strips split the power equally through it and if the console gets insufficient power it'll cause this kind of issue.

 

So is the power strip issue unique to the S or does it apply to the OG as well? If so does the S have the capability to withstand a power surge? This only happens when launching a game which make some doubt this is the culprit

 

mine fixed itself in an update and the xbox one s does not support power strips.

 

Bump - having the same problem. Major issue with bluray app crashing and not playing right. I tried switching from power strip to wall. None better. About to return Xbox.

 

Same problem here in Portugal with my console
