Have you tried to update the controller with this problem with the Xbox Accessories app? Do this via USB.
Controller is up to date what difference does it make doing it via usb to just clicking the option to update?

Some headsets require firmware updates from the manufacturers website themselves. I would check to make sure you don't need anything from them. My headset needed an entire app downloaded onto my computer to be able to work properly
