Brand new Xbox One is very buggy and regularly freezing...

Is anyone finding their new Xbox One is freezing either in games or while using the Xbox menus?

Well, its happened about ten time over the last two days and the only button that seems to work is the controller Xbox home button; however, once at the home screen nothing can be selected and it just sits there non-responsive.

The only thing I can do to resolve the issue is to hold down the console power button for a complete hard reset.

I have very similar problem. Xbox one is buggy and so is xbox live store.

I have seen the top issue you mention before where controls are still on the dashboard level not the overlay. You have to press the Xbox button and then hold it again to resolve it, correct?

Never had the issues with the other items you mentions.

tbh, the Xbox 360 wasn't smooth when it launched either, a number of updates from Microsoft got it to that point and that is what Microsoft is doing with the Xbox One now.

 

Yes I am having this issue too. Whenever I am getting frustrated with KI, I wanna switch to another game, so I hit the home button, and the whole xbox freezes, but the music from the game can be heard playing at regular volume, where I notice that when
it used to work, the volume of the music died down a bit.

 

I should also note that I have only noticed this on the KI games, and not my disc copy of Halo MCC, which, at present, are the only games I have. Also, I got the xbox with AC 4 and 5.

 

So my Xbox is un responsive what do I do

 

I also forgot to mention that I am also getting the infamous "Black Screen" glitch, and that both of these issues are issues I face when the Xbox is on for long periods of time.

 

I'm able to turn my XBox One one on with my controller but then the whole thing is unresponsive. All I am able to do is hit the home button and turn it back off. Very frustrating and disappointing as it is a gift for my son and he was able to use it once
so far. Anyone working on this issue?

 

Unknown. And now I am noticing this issue on all my games. I think that Microsoft's support staff is off for the holidays. Its the only possible explanation for no one at Microsoft getting back to us on this issue.

However, I think I might be able to help you out, Scarce. How long do you usually wait before shutting down your Xbox? Because from what I can tell from your message is that you are suffering from the infamous "Black Screen" glitch, which can be waited
out after twenty minutes of inactivity. The problem I am having is where the system is unresponsive after hitting the guide button in the middle of a game, which leads to a total freeze of the system.

You'd think that Microsoft's support staff would be active even during the holidays, which is when their profits would spike.

 

I've been having similar issues with my new console. I bought it four days ago and right out of the box the console would freeze after hitting the home button while inside a game or app. After contacting Microsoft they thought me about the hard reset like
some people have posted here, the only difference is they made me disconnect the power from the unit for about 5 mins. The machine worked pretty good for a solid 24 hours but last night the unit froze again and I had to do another hard reset.

Does anyone know whether I might be doing something wrong, the cause of this issue and if there is a permanent fix rather then doing a hard reset. Or does this sound like a defective unit that I should bring back.

After speaking to an agent at Microsoft regarding this issue, he is very confident that the issue is happening because of the initial system updates to our machine. Which is very plausible, since some of you may know that they had a cyber attack on Christmas
day. And as of now some services are still down since then,it is possible the initial update on all our system is corrupted.

His solution was to go to
support.xbox.com/.../offline-system-update-diagnostic-tool and redownload the system update, put it on USB key and reinstall that way. He is very confident that this will solve the issue. Also, for those of you who are wondering this will not overwrite
anything other than the system update.
