Brand new Xbox One froze twice while playing a game, help?

So I bought my Xbox One literally 4 days ago, and since then it has frozen twice while playing Sunset Overdrive. This is obviously really frustrating, and just to be on the safe side I haven't turned on my Xbox since

It basically freezes, then makes this horrible buzzing noise that comes from the game. It then restarts the entire game and kicks me to the dashboard. Should I re-install the game? Or send it off?

Anyone else experiencing frequent skipping & or crashing after the update? I am & i just wanna add that my xbox has never frozen while playing this game & it did so twice in an hour after downloading the update today...Played again about half an hour ago
& i noticed it skipping a lot while playing right before it freezes (No Its Not my Xbox Because Other Games Work Just Fine)

My Xbox is freezing while Playing The Hobbit Desolation of Smaug. It freezes twice during the movie at the same spots. I have rewind and skip the parts. It is a brand new disc also i switched it out from walmart and still it freezes in the same spot.

 

This is normal along with the buzzing noise do not be concerned about it damaging your Xbox at all. Certain games are more prone to freeze then others. I've experienced freezing and the buzzing noise that sounds horrendous hundreds of times and no damage
has been caused to my system or anything hooked up for it. Continue to game on with no concern.

But are you sure about this? What if this happens again? Is there something I should delete perhaps to prevent future lock-ups?

 

I am absolutely certain no damage will occur from my experience of it happening hundreds of times. The noise is disturbing and makes you think the worst but it will not damage anything.(except maybe your hearing or speakers). If it happens again just ignore
it and let it resume its coursethe game will crash and will bring you to dashboard then you just reload and start playing again. You also do not need to uninstall and reinstall because it will save your time and if that was the issue the game wouldn't load
at all.

 

You go have fun gaming ! Dont worry about it. Remember to have a remote by you to mute the speakers fast though if it happens.

 

Was the response here a joke? I'm having a similar problem with the Handsome Collection. I can't get far enough to even get to a save. It freezes every single time.

 

No joke i m saying don't worry about the freezing because it won't harm anything at all. I've dealt with freezing games since launch, some games are more prone to freeze then others. Some make the horrendous buzzing noise then crash to dashboard while some
just crash to dashboard. Then others will freeze system and all u have to do is unplug from power supply. Either way I've dealt with it all hundreds of times if not more and not once has any hurt my console one bit.

 

I'm less worried about it "hurting" my console and more concerned that it makes the games unplayable. How can I play a game if it just crashes every time?

 

A quick fix for the freeze problem is to
powercycle your console. Assuming since it's brand new it's on the Instant-on setting. This is great for getting into games quickly and automatically downloading all available updates, however this also causes some issues because of background
apps using too much memory etc .

You have 2 options in this case:

1. Occasionally when encountering issues you'll have to perform a
   powercycle
2. You change the power settings to Power-saving . This mode will close all apps when the Xbox is off, but you'll lose some slight functionality like the "Xbox on" command and games that keep running in the background.
   

Personally I play with powersaving on and haven't encountered a game freeze in a long time

 

Once again a obvious powercycle response. I swear if support relied on people saying unplug your Xbox from the wall or holding button whiles its on no wonder why people keep coming back to support.

Well for this particular issue the troubleshooting step is to powercycle. For other issues there are other things to do....

 

I've had Xbox one since launch and I used to use power saving mode but it was still freezing then just as much as when I use instant on now. The difference being that instant on saves you alot of time in the long run. All electronic devices freeze, also
how much a game freezes is highly dependent on the quality of game coding. If a game has poor game coding it is more prone to freeze. For instance farcry 4 had a very nasty problem freezing system up constantly and you had to unplug Xbox from surge protector
or wall outlet just to get the system to turn off but they eventually patched it and it hasn't froze since. I wouldn't worry about anything unless it is freezing constantly and even in that situation you will learn that even though you sometimes believe it's
your console its the game with poor code that just needs patching. Also if you need to power off your console you shouldn't hold power button on system as there is actually a spot to do that on the console itself 1. Go to settings 2.power and start-up 3. Restart
now. This is the same situation with a computer is it smarter to hold the power button and restart it or is it wiser to select restart or shutdown.

Apache I also recommend holding down the power button on the console for 10 seconds. As this may seem really silly but it does fix many issues. It is a quite effective solution. Hope all goes well. Please continue to ask questions as they emerge...
