Brand New Xbox One Elite Fails on Update

Brand new console out of box requires an update. Everytime I try to update it fails at around 95% with the message "There was a problem with the update". I am using a wired connection that is 50 MB/s download. This is a little ridiculous that I can't even
use the console until I update...

XBOX ONE ELITE Controller - Not Syncing - Not Connecting

Brand New 1 day old Elite Xbox One - Controller will not sync.

Elite controller is updated, it received the latest update.

Xbox One Elite console received the new update.

Replaced batteries (Used 8 sets of batteries, Duracells and Energizers)

Plugged in USB - Works when plugged in, unplug after a few minutes and light just flashes indefinitely and will not sync.

Tried syncing via sync button on console and controller.

Power Cycled Console numerous times.

Unplugged console numerous times.

FACTORY RESET the Elite Console 5 times.....

So far this is a total disappointment so far! $500 console and the *** controller won't sync!

 

Hey there. A few people in the past have been able to fix this by changing their DNS Server. I'm not exactly sure when, but at some point (possibly when the update fails), you should be able to get to your Network Settings. Change the DNS server from Automatic
to Manual, and set 8.8.8.8 as the primary, and 8.8.4.4 as the secondary.

The other suggestion that I have seen is to take your console to a friend's house with a different network to narrow down whether the issue is with the console or your network.

 

I had this same issue, doing the DNS fix like Ken said works most of the times! Some other suggestions besides what Ken has said. If you have a Windows 10 computer you can download the app for the controller its called Xbox Accessories (This is the way i
got my controller to update)

 

Same issue. Brand new Xbox elite, it has failed 6 times now once it gets to 93%.

This is utterly ridiculous. And there's no option to get into your DNS settings...so what am I supposed to do? This thing is a $500 paperweight right now

 

To get into your DNS settings your going to have to manual configure a IP scheme, step by step to do this is listed here: To get to this area please follow these steps:

Goto settings

Console

Network

Advance Settings

DNS Settings

Please change it to whats listed above by KenH2k4

Try switching to wireless. I have a 200mb wired download speed, but I had to switch to wireless to get it to work. Once I was past the update, I switched back to wired without issue.
