    Brand new Xbox One controller keeps disconnecting from bluetooth


    Hello,

    I just bought a brand-new xbox one controller to replace my first gen controller. I want to use my controller wireless. The problem is that the controller keeps disconnecting after 30 seconds to 1 minute. The controller stays connected when using an USB-C-cable. I've tried the following:

    • Updating the controller firmware via xbox accesories app -> no updates available
    • Uninstalling the xbox controller drivers -> no change
    • Uninstalling all bluetooth drivers -> no change
    • Restarted my pc a gazillion times -> no change
    • plugging the bluetooth dongle in every usb port on my computer -> no change
    • Tried turning off all other bluetooth devices in the house to prevent interference -> no change
    Event viewer has the following events right when the controller disconnects (in order of occurrence, although they all have the same time stamp):

    • Windows cannot store Bluetooth authentication codes (link keys) on the local adapter. Bluetooth keyboards might not work in the system BIOS during start-up.
    • The local adapter does not support an important Low Energy controller state to support peripheral mode. The minimum required supported state mask is 0x2491f7fffff; got 0x1fffffff. Low Energy peripheral role functionality will not be available.
    • The local adapter does not support the minimum buffer requirement to support the hardware filtering of Bluetooth Low Energy advertisements. This may mean that your system will consume more power to process advertisements that are not intended for your system.
    Is my bluetooth dongle broken? It's also brand new and it "should" support bluetooth 5.0 and bluetooth LE. I can succesfully connect to other bluetooth devices without this problem.

    The only way to reconnect my controller with my pc after it has disconnected is to remove the controller via the bluetooth app and add it as a new device. Any help is welcome!

I am happy to help and see if we can solve your Bluetooth problems. Does your PC natively have Bluetooth built-in? If so, have you tried to connect it directly to your PC? The new Xbox controllers can connect to any device without a USB dongle. I also want to provide this suggestion.

    Connect an Xbox Wireless Controller to a Windows device Many PC games let you play with an Xbox Wireless Controller instead of a keyboard or mouse. Connect your controller to a Windows device by using a USB cable, the Xbox Wireless Adapter for Windows, or over Bluetooth. Some Windows devices also come with Xbox Wireless built-in so you can connect a controller directly without an adapter. Try some of the suggestions in this support article.

    Thanks, CristofKaiser, indeed with a brand new controller it keeps disconnecting, so it's not the controller. [Update:] now the controllers work on my PC, but still no news on the Xbox One.

    I'll keep you posted if I find a solution.

    Anyone else ?

    Xbox Series X controller constantly disconnecting from PC when playing, even when connected via USB C one slight nudge and it will disconnect. Any Fixes/Help?

    Same issue as others; brand new Carbon Black controller setup via Bluetooth. Randomly disconnects during gameplay. Works fine but every 10 minutes or so it starts blinking and I get a message on screen saying the controller is disconnected, please use mouse and keyboard. Very disappointing.

    After the September update, controller is disconnecting all the time!

    ive had my console about 3 weeks from brand new, i'm about 1 metre away from my console yet my controller will disconnect and and the LED light will repeatedly flash over and over until the controller connects again. While it is flashing it will kick me
    out of xbox live and disconnect me from any parties or games!!!!! (ive lost multiple fifa games now because of this problem!!).. the batteries are brand new, the console is brand new yet it keeps happening, it happens within 5 minutes of me turning my console
