Brand new Xbox One console power supply defective out of box.

Xbox One power block on first use, out of box, arced inside, and caught on fire. Now Microsoft wants me to pay shipping and pay $35 to replace it.

It sounds like either your console or the power supply is defective. This troubleshooting guide will tell you which device has gone defective: https://support.xbox.com/xbox-one/console/reset-power-supply-solution

The only solution here is to send one of the devices to Microsoft for repair or replacement. If you have already attempted self-repairs on either device, you will have likely voided the warranty.

warranty support inacceptable

A few weeks ago, the power supply of my Kids almost new xbox one stopped working.

After contacting the Support, they offered me to send a new - used refurnished but checked console.

They said they will Charge 300.- € to my credit Card, until my original console will be returned. I told them - only the power supply ist defective, but the answer was, that they send the whole unit (console and xbox). I accepted, since I don´t know if
the console itself is defective or the PS.

Well, it took almost 2 weeks until the parcel arrived - WITHOUT the power supply.

I contacted the Support again, and they said, they would send the power supply ... again 2 WEEKS ago.

The Chat Support send me a UPS number yesterday, for tracking. Funny, because even today, if you track it, the message ist, a Label was printed but NO shipping was initiated.

Instead of 300.- €, Microsoft charged 360 .- € !!!!

1 Month for a simple warranty Change is absolutley inacceptable. I have 3 Xboxes for my Kids, a 360 which I repalced last year, because it was defective, and all the expensive games are not working on xbox one.

I ordered a new power supply through Amazon today, because I´m sure, Microsoft will not be able to handle that before new year and my Kids suffer ...

I was my last xbox!

Hi, return it to the store, I'm sure they should just replace the whole bundle, that's a bit harsh of Microsoft wanting to charge as it's obviously faulty within warranty and the circumstances of a possible fire aren't good either.

It sounds like your Xbox One power supply has gone defective. Unfortunately components in older power supplies degrade over time (eg. electrolytic capacitors) and that usually means it is time to buy a replacement power supply or new console if your console
is no longer under warranty.

I cannot recommend more that you purchase only consoles that are brand new out of the box with a full warranty. You should never purchase defective hardware

Did you purchase the console at a local retailer? If so they may take it back as defective and give you a new console. That is at least worth a try.

It definitely sounds like it could be the power supply that is faulty but just to be sure if you have a friend that has an XBOX One borrow their power supply and connect it to your console and see if it reacts the same way. If the console then powers up
it would absolutely confirm the problem is with the power supply. Let us know.
