BRAND NEW headset adapter not working after using once.

So I got a BRAND NEW headset adapter in the mail today. I plugged it into the controller, updated said controller and it was fine until I shut the Xbox off for about an hour. now it doesn't pick up the adapter at all and the adapter doesn't seem to be working.
Also, since I have already updated the controller I am unable to update it again to see if that works.I have tried different Mics and cords but nothing seems to work. Did I get a bad adapter? Or is there a way to un-update my controller so I can try it again
without resetting the whole xbox to factory defaults? otherwise I am going to send the adapter back and get a new controller (not that I want to spend the extra money since I just got the adapter).

XBox One Chat issue, cant hear others in party audio nor can they hear me.

I went out and bought a brand new controller and after about 20min the headset chat audio stopped working so it's not the controllers.

Stereo headset adapter issue

Brand new headset and stereo adapter will not work. Initially you could hear with headset but mic would not work. Now nothing. The mute button will not turn off. Tried hard reset on xbox one. Tried updating firmware. It says no update, controller up
to date. Tried taking batteries out of controller and reinstalling. Tried reinstalling stereo adapter and headset connection numerous times. Tried plugging headset directly into controller with no stereo adapter. Nothing still. Old turtle beach headset
plugged directly into controller works fine. This is a brand new headset and adapter right out of the box. Unbelievable.

Odds are it's the adapter that's faulty. Where did you purchase it from? Are you able to return it for an exchange?

I ain't buying no new headsets, I just hope the promised chat adapter comes out soon after launch because I got a brand new set of Xp400s that work perfect and sounds great so at first I guess I'll only have game audio then hopefully not long after the
chat adapter will come along. Everyone needs to stay on Microsoft about that chat adapter

Mine had this issue as well. I discovered it was due to the headset adapter "puck" not fitting as snugly in its spot. Due to the lose fit the connections would constantly drop. I could hear them, but no one could hear me. Once I tried puck on my brand new
2nd controller the issues immediately stopped. The puck also snaps in tightly, for now. I have no doubt that after a certain amount of use this controller will also start to loosen up its hold on the puck. The headset adapter puck is a really poorly designed
attachment. Hopefully, that is why they released new controller with headset jack on it.

Some headsets need their own branded adapter to work.

If the headset works on other devices, and is not a Xbox branded product, then you may require a headset adapter. They actually are useful just to have in general.
