Bought games brand new but didnt have the game.....

Ok so in the past couple of months my wife bought me 2 games from 2 different locations at different times. First one was evil within from target. The game was sealed hadn't been open or anything. When I got it and opened it, there was a blank cd. It wasn't
the game or anything, just looked like a regular cd. Had a good laugh and we returned it and got a brand new one from them, the actual disc was in it thank god. So the next one was for christmas and it was assassins creed unity from Walmart. Brand new and
sealed, I open it and it was someones broken mix tape cd of no doubt was there instead of them game. Bummed I cant even listen to it but in all seriousness is anyone having the same issue when buying games from a retailer? I freaking wish I could make this
up but it bums me out that it is true haha

New or Preowned?

A lot of games I have bought pre owned I probably woulfd have never bought brand new but bought them as they seemed cheap pre owned.

I probably still buy more games brand new but |I first got into Gears of War by buying Gears 2 pre owned, have since bought Gears 3 brand new so the developers did benefit

I have always bought films so ive had no experiance with renting games but it does seem to be the new thing, is it also brand new realesed games also???

 

Wow, that sounds strange... I can't say I've ever heard of this happening before, but at least you can return them.

 

Wow, these retailers are crazy for not even checking the discs! I haven't heard of this happening. As crazy as it sounds, I would open the case right then in there after checkout in the future in case the retailer ever tries to give you any grief, it seems
like they aren't even checking to make sure the game is actually inside the case!

 

I get why they don't do it but it sucks they can't check it some way. They want to prove to you that it is brand new and not tampered with because it is sealed with the Xbox tape and silly wrapping. However re sealing stuff is possible. I have seen it done
before when I worked at GameStop. however I do agree on opening it right there when I buy it to reassure I won't run into the problem when I have high hopes on finally playing the game ;p

 

When you buy a game new, check to see if the Microsoft Green and while lettered seal is on the disc case. It is true that carefully those can be removed and reused, but if it is not there then it has definitely been opened before. Also the next time you
get a game look to see how the shrink wrap looks. If people are tampering with games, it is unlikely they can duplicate the factory method of doing it. As one last note, if you see your disc inside and it looks legit, be sure it has the Xbox hologram image
around the ring.

 

It was sealed sealed. The green Microsoft sticker was on them and everything. Whoever did it, went through great lengths. My wife pointed out they are both from havok studios but I kinda think it was looking too deep in it. LOL as an update, we went to Walmart
to get an exchange and they wouldn't do it. They said because we didn't get it at their store and that they don't know if we took the disc and put that cd there. Wife went ballistic, we weren't trying to get a refund but an exchange. We are gonna go to where
we bought the game
