Bought a used xbox one...questions

My buddy bought a xbox one call of duty advanced warfare console 2 weeks ago and has since sold it to me. He has only downloaded the single game and his profile is on the xbox.

I am a ps4 owner and I'm not familiar with exactly how the xbox downloaded games work. If I delete his profile from this console will I still be able to play Call of Duty without buying it again?

Question about xbox and W-Microsoft10

I have got a question about using my xbox one and Microsoft Windows 10 to use crossplay, so as we know you can use your xbox one to play games you bought on Microsoft store also on the pc and back, now im having this question can i let a friend play on my Microsoft Windows account to play a game that i play on the xbox one using crossplay so there's 2 people on 1 account using 2 platforms. Is this posible?

No. The user license would be saved to HIS account so if you deleted his account, you would not have access to the game anymore

I want to play online under my profile. I guess I'll have to buy it again.

Is this the same for used discs?

 

You can play online under your profile if you setup a xbox live account. Just don't remove your buddy's account. Get on his profile an make sure to set the xbox to home. Then anyone can login and play the games he has on the console.

 

Ok. I got this working and can play online since he didn't use the 14 day gold trial for xbox live.

One thing is the console always comes up to his profile when I turn it on and I have to switch it to my profile. Is there a way I can make it my home console?

I would not advice using Your buddys account and the games assosiated With it as this would be defined as Account Sharing and/or Marketplace Theft and is againt the Xbox live Code of Conduct and terms of use... And can result in an immediate and permanent
suspension of Your account and possibly the same for the console...

My advice is to bite the bullet and reset the console to factory settings and set it up properly With Your live account and buy any games that you want to play

(any codes for downloadable games/content that has not been redemed by Your buddy (or anybody else) can be used by you as that is not yet tied to a live account... and Any games on physical discs can be isntalled by you minus any activated dlc)

 

I'm signed into my own account and I used the codes when I was. I'm playing online under my profile. I don't know my friends password. The only reason I don't want to reset the console is I don't want to lose the game and have to spend $60 to buy it again.

 

That's probably due to him having set the Xbox one to his "home console".. the intended use of that function is to let other members of the owners household access to games/content bought by the consoles owner... Your Buddy can't legaly sell you his account
OR the use of it (account sharing) with the sale of the Xbox one.. as this is against the C.O.C and T.O.U..

It can prove an epensive way to save 60$ if the result is that your account and console gets permanently banned.. I would not chance it that's for sure..

 

Well, I don't want that to happen. Its only a month old and I plan on buying a lot more games.

 

Anything you have downloaded/bought while signed into Your account will be tied to Your account as I understand it.. only what has been bought/installed by Your buddy to his acccount will be lost.. and yes that is certainly better than the alternative, and
as I've read it they wont' issue a warning beforhand either, or at least they are not obliged to do so by the C.O.C/T.O.S

 

To make the xbox auto sign you in. Sign in to your account,go to settings. On the left side of the screen click on Sign-in,security & passkey. Look for Instant sign-in.

 

Tronder 007, When you get a digital game it's tied to your gamer account and the xbox that the game is downloaded to. He should be ok playing the game, as it was downloaded to the console he has. But your right about him using his buddy's gamer tag.

 

SLIM 151 proof... I Know that it is possible, but it doessn't change the fact that the OP. cant legally take possession of digital games bought and installed by the original owner of the Xbox one.. that is still against the T.O.S and T.O.U... The "home Console"
function is only ment to allow members of the consoles owners household acces to the digital games and content/services that he or she has bought... it is not transferrable With the sale of the console.. might seem unfair to to some, but those are the rules..
and the punishment can be an immediate and permanent live account ban, and the console itself can allso be banned as I've understood it..

As to anything he has bought and installed in the way of digtal dowload games and content while signed into his account will still as I understand the rules still be his when he resets the console to factory settings.. he'll just have to redownload them..
