    Bought a game, can't play it because "Installation Stopped"


    I was excited to buy Zumba for my wife, but unfortunately we can't play it. The game installs, but the required update just sits in the queue at 8%, and then eventually says, "Installation Stopped."

    I've canceled the update and retried, but it happens over and over again.

    My wife is sad, and this makes me sad.

    Seagate 2tb external Hard Drive

    I just bought a 2tb Seagate expansion. My games will not transfer. After 6 hours, about every 4 seconds i get an "installation stopped" notification, then after a couple seconds a message that says "External Hard Drive Ready" and after these 6 hours of
    tormenting notification sounds, literally nothing is transfered, because it spends no more than 3 seconds on a game before the installation stops. It's taking everything not to rip my hair out.

    FunkayFooj, since you have the preview dashboard, you'll want to have your brother report the issue via the preview app on the console, or in the preview forums (forums.xbox.com/.../default.aspx).
    If you get a message that says Group Not Found, have him create a post here requesting access:

    forums.xbox.com/.../4268.aspx

    Also, it sounds like your issue is different, because you are installing from a disc. Usually, turning the Xbox off by holding the Xbox logo on the front until it fully shuts down and unplugging the power cord from the back for 5 minutes will help this.
    I always choose Update Later when prompted, because it makes the game install faster.

    Even if it works after that, you'll still want to have him report it so the preview team is aware of the issue.

    Is it a disc installation?

    Can you try disconnecting the console from the network and then retrying the installation?

    I'm having the same issue with Titanfall! Which is part of my bundle...why not just give me a disk! I've been trying to fisx this for at least 4 hours!

    Try a hard reset if the disconnect from xbox live does not work.

    If you don't know how to do a hard reset you just hold the power button on the console for 10 sec.

    Hi Asparae,

    Is there any chance you're in the Insider Program (formerly: Preview Program) for console updates?

    In any case, the first step to try is a power cycle. It may sound simple enough, but it has the tendency to stop weird errors like this one from happening.

    To do a full power cycle, do the following:

    • First, cancel the Spotify app download if it still ongoing;
    • Now, press and hold the power button for 10 seconds until you hear a beep;
    • Once the console is powered off, unplug it from mains power;
    • Leave it for 2-5 minutes;
    • Reconnect the cables and power it back up.

    Now try downloading and installing the Spotify app again. Let us know how you get on.
