Bought a game as a gift, didn't go as planned.

Go back to the retailer with the receipt and they will activate it for you. I know someone that bought a load of gift cards at the same time and some of the didn't activate as they didn't scan properly.

I feel ya Davey and I wasn't going to buy Ghosts, but then my brother bought it for me as a gift because he saw I didn't have it. So that ruined that!

This year, I'm going to stick to my guns (gift or not). I'll be curious on the sales figures though!

Thanks Daft Badger. I didn't realize that Xbox 360 games couldn't be bought with the gift cards. That stinks. There isn't any saying that gift cards can't be used for Xbox 360 backwards compatible games.

If the purchase doesn't show in your account's order history, then the purchase must've failed before it could complete. In this case, Microsoft won't claim the money as there is no order associated with it. The pending charge will be reversed to you, usually within 7 days.

You can attempt to purchase the gift again now or wait until the charge is reversed. Please reach back if you have further questions.

From the FAQ:

When will I receive my Rewards Credits?



After you have completed an action on the list, your Rewards Credits and MyVIP Gems will appear as pending within 96 hours.

Since you made a purchase on the 10th, we have not received that purchase yet.
