Bought a 6 month subscription card but can't redeem it?

I'm having the same problem with a 12 month subscription :/

I am having the same issue, I can't redeem a 6 month code to my account and I just bought it for black friday

Hi SgttSmitty, currently there is no way to redeem a gold card while a member is listed on the family subscription. If you were to remove a member, redeem the card to that account, and re-add the member, it would extend the subscription by 6 months for everyone.

Now I can't even redeem an xbox 12-month gold subscription card.

its a green xbox live gold 3 months card so i can't use it to buy games in game purchases???

You can't buy games or in game purchases with a 3 Month Gold membership card.

But even if you have a subscription, you can redeem the card, and the card will "pause" your renewal payments for 3 months, and after the 3 months of the gold card are over, you start paying normally for your subscription again.

So just redeem it on your account, and you save 3 monthly Gold payments. And even if you have a longer subscription (like a 12 month subscription), it will "push back" the next renewal payment for 3 months.

So for example, if your next renewal were in November 2019, and you redeem the 3 Month card, you'd have to pay for the next subscription renewal in February 2020.

There is a cheaper way of doing this

Buy 3 12 month of gold codes then upgrade for a total of 3 years of xgu

Unless you have xgu already in which case just wait it out and revert to free then do the above proccess

Actually these 4-months gift cards were on discount so I bought them. If I redeem the first card, I will join XBGPU for 4 months. You are saying that by redeeming one of my gift cards, I can't redeem the remaining cards until my subscription run out?
