Both wired controllers player 1!

It seems this is a reoccurring problem based on the number of threads that come up on Google search and these forums but ket me add to that.

We purchased two new classic microsoft 360 controllers, both wired. They both, regardless of port light up as player one. The first being overridden by the second.

How is this a problem microsoft? Is there a resolution? I see threads dating back to 2010 on the same issue.

I appreciate any and all help! Thanks in advance.

Wired Controllers both player 1

I bought two new controllers from amazon today and both of them are registering as player 1, I googled and there was old threads saying the issue was never resolved and to try new controllers, is this the only way? Or is there a fix now?

Contacted Microsoft support -- they told me to send the console in for repairs.

I am also encountering same problem, but have not come across any solution for it. Can Xbox 360 support confirm, that it is not possible to connect 2 wired controllers, as not received any answer since 2010 when this issue was raised. Or any software update
coming that would fix this problem?

Same problem here. This just started yesterday on the 360 slim with two wired SCUF controllers.

I don't recall this happening before, but then I don't think I ever had used two wired controllers at once.

Unplugged, reset, but still same problem.

It doesn't do this with a GameSpot wired controller with a SCUF wired one though.

I have exactly the same problem : two wired black controllers on my slim xbox 360 and they both show up as player 1 (the second wired works, the first one is blocked)

I have tried "tricking" the system before by using my wireless controllers. What I did was turned on both wireless controllers which came on as 1 and 2 . Then plugging in a wired controller for player 3. Then turning off the player 1 wireless controller
and plugging in the second wired controller which I thought would star up as player 1, but it went to player 3 as well.

I will try what you are suggesting and report back it that works.

What happens if you disconnect the wired controllers, power the console with a wireless controller, plug in one of the wired controllers, then the second wireless controller and finally the second wired controller. I'm not saying that will fix it mind, just
curious.

If that does nothing for you, you could try deleting and re updating your console software just in case there was a glitch when you last updated.

Go to the storage section on your console and select your storage device, press LB, press RB, press X, press LB,press RB, press X

You will be asked to confirm deletion of the the latest system update, confirm the action and your console will reboot and you will be asked to update again.

None of these steps helped. Is there any place in settings to resync wired controllers? Everything is Microsoft brand I'm not using third party hardware. Does plugin in two wired controllers usually work right out of the box?
