Borderlands online play

my borderlands works just fine offline, but online it's so terribly laggy it's unplayable. It takes nearly a full second to jump after pressing the button, and zooming with gun sometimes works and sometimes doesn't. Same with some other functions. The online
works just fine on my 360 using the same wireless router.

Is the xbox one in a different location? A few feet can make a big difference.
