Borderlands is Free, but I can't download it

Why do I need a credit card to play a Free game that came out 8 years ago? http://imgur.com/lZKrkKF This is ridiculous! None of the other Backwards Compatible titles had this issue, why does this one?

Hey I can't download the Borderlands 2 compatibility pack my Xbox acc and hard drive say I've downloaded it but borderlands 2 says I haven't so to try to correct this problem I bought the premiere club with the DLC for 800 ms but I still can't download
the compatibility pack or the DLC I spent $10 on any help?

 

Im having the same issue, it is free, why do we need to add a credit card?

All transactions on the Xbox.com site need to have a valid payment option on file (credit, debit, PayPal). The Store operates in the following manner: when a game is made FREE, the price is reduced to $0.00. So you will be "purchasing" the free game for
the price of $0.00. In order to bypass this, you would need to download and install the Games with Gold (backwards compatible titles) to an Xbox 360.

Because the ability to purchase Xbox 360 titles is still being tested by Preview Program members, you would need to use Xbox.com or an Xbox 360 console. We will have to wait and see how it has been incorporated into the Xbox One Store. If when released,
you find it does not meet your expectations, always feel free to use Xbox.uservoice.com to express your ideas and concerns.

If you read that thread why are you asking the same question when it already has been answered

Even in the beta you still have to have a payment option on file

There is two reasons for this

First verification that you are an adult as free m rated games still require you to be an adult

2nd according to support forum agents I seen post this answer

The way the marketplace handles free and paid transactions

First it's not free per say it's treated as a 0.00 dollar transaction on the Web marketplace that's why you need the creditcard since the change over to currency since currency is really the points just you get taxed on the transaction unknown why people
wanted it it just drove up the cost of games due to taxes being added after rather then upfront

On the 360 console it's free because it's not the Web marketplace if you want change you have to follow switches suggestion and add to the vote however you are still going to be waiting long as a complete rewrite of a backed will take years (considering
how long it took last time)

On the one xbox one transactions are free or currency

 

But xbox one didn't have point system so it doesn't take a rewrte

 

You literally take a 0.00 charge to do it from the website for xbox 360 and no one can tell you how to get around it except for the official way which is the 360 console

 

Anything else is gaming the system and violation of the terms of use

This is a new issue. You weren't required to have a CC on file to download GWG games as long as you logged directly into the 360. I've been doing it for as long as GWG has been out w/o a CC on file. All of a sudden I need a CC. This is a change. Additionally,
I have a $30+balance in my account so why doesn't MS take the $0.00 out of my balance? Seems like something is buggy here.

 

As long as you download from a 360 yes you don't need a credit card but like the verified answer states for the website you must have one in file only on the website

 

I don't have a 360. I tried to download from Xbox.com but said I need to download from the console. Thanks I try to download Borderlands from my One and won't let me. Any suggestions on how to get it to download?
