  2. GOTY, Expansion dlc.

I currently have the original borderlands disc, not the GOTY version.

Does anyone know if the DLC disc from the GOTY edition ,will work with the normal version once installed?

Hi, you don't need to install the dlc disc. All the dlc is included with backward compatible version of Borderlands. Have a look here for more info

I think there may be a typo in the related section in the posted link:

"Borderlands: For all editions, DLC comes included on Xbox One. For the Game of the Year edition, accessing DLC doesn’t require you to insert the DLC disc on Xbox One. Only your purchased DLC, however, will be usable on
    Xbox 360.
    "

Shouldn't it say "Xbox One" at the end, not "Xbox 360"? I'm not sure how it can make sense as it is.

And one thing that it doesn't address is whether digitally-purchased GOTY is the only version for which the dlc will be unlocked, as opposed to the physical disc-based version. I also own the disc-based GOTY, but I haven't tried anything with Borderlands
    as of yet.

My big question is whether the *included* dlc in the Xbox One GwG version is even able to pick and choose who to unlock the dlc for, outside of digital purchases, since there is no gamertag tracking on disc-based dlc.

Presuming it is indeed a typo, and it should say "Xbox One" at the end of that entry in the Borderlands dlc listing, then
I don't believe that any of us with the disc-based dlc will have access on the Xbox One.

All that said, I wouldn't blame M$ for having it set up that way since they're not obligated to provide any special perks as it is (GwG, backwards compatibility, free dlc, etc), and I would bet that either decision concerning release of dlc with any backwards-compatible/GwG
editions on the Xbox One (restrict to digital dlc purchases only, offer all dlc free, not include any dlc or select dlc) would leave somebody angry, whether that be publishers who lose profits of people buying old dlc since it's free, M$ paying for the dlc
in some way, or customers playing old games not having access for the disc versions they purchased years before.

    But that's my opinion.

On further re-reading, it looks like I was slightly mistaken. Now it sounds like all dlc is released free on the Xbox One backwards-compatibility version, but if you download and play Borderlands on the Xbox 360, you don't get any of the dlc for free. Sounds
like a perk for Xbox One owners to me, which makes sense as a business model. But then, any disc-dlc owners like me won't care because we have the dlc already. And like I said in my previous post, I don't think M$ is obligated to hand out dlc to anyone as
it is, so it's their choice to go above and beyond by giving it to owners of their new system.

And before anyone complains about owning a 360 but not a One and wanting the free dlc, that's not a sustainable business model. If every business was required to offer services like that for platforms they manufactured over a decade previously, a lot of
businesses would be gone and no longer able to provide any perks--free or otherwise--to anyone at all.

I also have the Game of the Year (GotY) edition and am unable to use the 2nd disc, which has all the dlc included on it. I did not see the dlc as free through either the game store or the Xbox One marketplace. The marketplace, in fact, says that the dlc
packs are available as a bundle only, but when you click that to see the bundle, it says nothing is found. Seeing as I have a,ready paid for the GotY version, I will not pay for the dlc again and would rather play the game on my Xbox One instead of my 360,
as the 360 is much slower as far as processing.

Does anybody know if there is a way to play the GotY version on the Xbox One or if that will become playable in the future?

    Thanks for any further help.

    Borderlands GOTY DLC disc compatability

    Hey there Beanboy83.

Once you install the base game, visit Games & Apps and press the menu button on Borderlands and select 'Manage game'. From there you should be able to download the DLC that shows up under Ready to Install.

Let us know if that helps Borderlands GOTY DLC disc compatability :)
