Bookshelf Mode for Games.

So after back and forth deciding if I should go digital or keep buying physical I decided on going Digital purely for the benefits of game sharing to a second console in the house etc. But one thing I was thinking I would love to see is a Bookshelf mode
for the Digital copies of the games we buy.. Or just at least a few different options of displaying the games we bought other then just the game squares in the "my games and apps" and pin to home section.

I know its only something simple but would be a nice addition to the xbox if we could store our games in a digital bookshelf so to speak.

What do you guys think? Do you think it would be a nice addition or do you think no need for it?

The bookshelfs act just like chest, drawers and other containers... Look at the bookshelf and it will say "activate bookshelf". You can then place items in it from the menu just like using a chest.

It even stacks things on the shelf neatly for you.

I have the bookshelf problem. I was trying the Oghma Infinium ( sp ? ) glitch and the game glitched on me. Go figure.........lol

I don't nor haven't used with intention that stupid "OneGuide" Tab once, nor will I (and I hated when the stupid Kinect opened it via Voice by accidental trigger ruining whatever Game I was playing). It would be nice if I could remove that Tab all together
and replace it with one that are my actual Games I purchased Digitally.

This is a dream that will never come true though.

 

That could be a good idea. I find that when I'm deciding which game to play I'll gaze at my shelf and look at the physical boxes and sometimes seem to completely forget about the digital games I have. That was OK when I had 95% physical and 5% digital, but
I've now gone more towards the digital route too (maybe 80% digital and 20% physical).

That's a cool idea, you should post your idea in a diiferent part of the forums. I'm sure some helpful forum regular ( Badger ) will come along and provide a link.

 

So rather than have your games collected together in one place where you can browse them you would rather have them in a Digital Bookshelf, which would essentially allow you to have them all together in one place and browse them.

How is this digital bookshelf different to the one that already exists?

 

Personal preference for me is to see the game front as it is now, I don't see the value in having to tilt my head to read the spine of a title when I can see the full cover laid in front of me in the "My Games" section. Each to their own though...

 

What's the difference between a bookshelf and what we have now? All my games are in 1 spot and nice and tidy.

 

I wouldn't mind an option to organise my games into folders, to categorise them how I wish, but regarding the bookshelf idea I too prefer just seeing the games box art they way it is now

 

Have to say i'm happy with the way it is now.

I have my physical games in alphabetical order anyway.

I think it would be nice to be able to sort the digital games in a different way, maybe by most recently played or genres etc? Or there are certainly a load of the GWG games I've downloaded for a rainy day, but don't really want to have to scroll past them
every time I want to get to a certain game and would be great if I could hide them in a different folder.

I know you can pin games to the dashboard but I would have too many to pin, and I go through different moods and phases of which games I'm playing and would constantly be pinning and unpinning games otherwise.

 

My bookshelf is also known as my External Hard Drive.

I keep current things I'm playing on the internal drive and move them back and forth as I get the urge to play anything older.

I agree there should be some kind of file system to organize all of the games.

This is Windows after all. There should be a way to do it.

 

After thinking about it more I guess differnt folders that we can name ourselves would be cool.

 

Awesome guys thanks.. Always enjoy hearing everyone's different views Obviously everyone has different ways they would like to have games sorted etc. So I think if they at least gave us the options to change or keep it a certain way would be great!
