Booklets making a comeback?

I miss manuals and indeed love the smell of manual to a freshly opened game. Back in the days some manuals were as thick as an EGM or Nintendo power magazine and as good as a read. I would much rather have nothing now than an insert warning me to not eat
the disk.

Some of the best times were taking a dump reading a big fat manual.

I used to love reading a good one as well. Problem is I'm now so old I can't read rhe print anymore!

They should require all new games to come with complete manual, collector's sticker and very hard piece of faded red gum stick! I cannot wait for this.....yummmmm hard gummmm.

I used to like reading the manuals I got in the game cases. To me, they were a lot more informative and detailed than just having a scripted 'in game tutorial' of some sort. Maybe it's just me, but most devs used to do a better job with the manual than they
did with any in game help system or menu... if they even used one.

Even with digital games, they could have a 'manual' that you could pull up from the pause menu, or the main menu. Pull up the 'manual' and flip through the pages with bumpers... I could live with that.

A lot of games do have that as a kind of mini help guide, they definately could expand on that feature, and it seems to quite a hidden function as it is. I think I shouted "aargh help on DR3 and the Kinect snapped the help thing to the side, which was a
surprise. I would also settle for a "companion" manual that could be viewed on tablet or phone, that would be awesome for old Skool style manuals.

bring back the booklet, make them out of 100% recycled paper then all is well with the activists.

I miss the books of old. Most pc games that you got during the early 2000s were as in depth as the games they were for. Some had at least 150 pages outlining the history, the lore, every weapon and even thing like recomended tactics and things of that nature.
Some of the manuals in games were actually better than going to your local book store. There was nothing like getting a new game and at night you would lay in bed and read a huge book on the game you were playing. It would suck you into the world as much as
the game itself!
